Super Fan is near where I am sitting and is repeatedly pointing out to those near him that we have to keep track of score and pitch count manually since the power is out. No $#!+, Sherlock!
I feel like I lose IQ points when I have an encounter with him. It's not like I have a plethora of that in the first place.
Is the pitching staff getting a little less yippish lately? Still giving up some runs, but seems like it's been because they are around the strike zone.
Another entertaining game today. The New Mexico starter had very good numbers coming into the game (ERA around 2.50) and had pitched a complete game 1-hitter two starts ago against Air Force.
Chase Williams has good stuff but not great command. He will be hard pressed to go much more than 5 or 6 innings because he throws a lot of pitches. Today it was because he threw his share of balls out of the strike zone but he also struck out about 9 guys. If he figures out how to consistently locate his pitches he could be pretty solid. Today he was good except for 2 pitches were he gave up solo homers and one bad inning in the top of the 5th but I do think he was competing.
The entire Shocker team was pretty solid at the plate today. Tinkham can really generate some power for a skinny kid. In the 7th he drove the 1st pitch he saw out of the park but well foul down the LF line. Then on the next pitch he drove a ball over the CF fence with a cross wind. I though Gunnar Troutwine also looks like he is going to be decent hitter.
The neat thing today though was the Shocker seniors. Bob Arens who has been struggling came through with a big bases loaded bases hit to drive in what would prove to be the winning run in the 7th and Ray Ashford battled his way through 2+ innings. Ray gave up the home run in the 9th after walking the leadoff batter. I thought he struck the guy he walked out twice but unfortunately the home plate up did not agree.
No errors by the Shockers either.
Pretty nice crowd considering how the season has gone so far.

Sam Hilliard going tomorrow.First time in a while for Sam on the weekend. If we have any chance at all in the valley tournament Williams and Hilliard have to step up their game and pitch to their potential.

We must have been near each other. I assume that is who was standing almost right behind me, a bit to my left. It was a little annoying.
