  • Shocks @ Bradley

    Game 1

Shocks jumped out to a 5-0 lead after 3 highlighted by back-to-back homers by Ryan Tinkham (a 2-run job) and Sam Hilliard.

However, Bradley has threatened in about every inning and now it is 5-3 after 6. A game very similar to the K-State game.

Shocks have done a poor job of moving runners into scoring position early in innings.

Isaac Anderson started and lasted through 5.2 but allowed 9 hits and 3 walks while throwing 112 pitches. I guess the best you can say is he battled as he had runners all over the bases. Bradley has stranded 10 runners through the 6 innings.

Like at K-State the Shocks offense has gone dormant after a nice start.

Outstanding relief work by John Hayes. 3.1 innings of scoreless, no-hit work allowing only a 2-out walk for his 1st save as a Shocker.
John gets my vote for POG.

Shocks hold on to win 5-3 behind John's pitching.

Kennedy agrees. John Hayes is his pick from player of the game.

Its nice to see a bounce back (even if it was a little shaky) after a game like Wednesday's.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

I wished after they jump out on these guys they would still scratch a run or two more out. Ashbeck is good pitcher so it is good that they could get this one. Nice long relief performance by Hayes.

I'm still trying to get past getting my hopes up after a good performance. Just don't think that's the way to go this year.

Having said that, good job. The middle of the lineup is really coming on the past 3 weeks. If there was any reliable pitching I would have some hope. I'm also a little disappointed because I think Tinkham and maybe Hilliard are now doing enough at the plate that they'll be gone after this year, putting us right back where we started.

Dave Kingman was 6-6, 210lbs. Ryan Tinkham is 6-5, 205 lbs.

Ryan has been doing damn good Dave Kingman imitation with his power lately except Ryan is hitting for a much higher average.

You definitely have to think that he will get some strong interest in this summers draft.

Bradley's starting pitcher strikes out the side in the top of the 1st.

Chase Williams who has pitched mostly in relief is starting today's game. Chase walks Bradley's lead off hitter on 5 pitches and wasn't really close on the 4 balls according to Mike.

And a leadoff walk on 5 fastballs. Just don't have any guys that can throw strikes consistently.

Chase does end up facing the minimum of 3 hitters in the 1st. A little unconventionally but it counts.

Yay only the first 4 struck out. We've got em now.

Bradley goes up 1-0 on a long solo home run in the bottom of the 4th. Overall though what we are getting from Chase Williams is pretty decent.

Poor fielding strikes again. Shox should have been out of inning trailing 2-0, but routine fly ball is dropped. Bradley 4, WSU 0

Tanner Kirk stumbles and falls trying to catch an inning-ending pop up with the bases loaded. The ball falls safely Bradley scores 2 runs. Mike Kennedy not very happy with that play at all.

Sounds like Ryan Tinkham just missed a 3-run homer in the 6th just not getting a smash to LF elevated quite enough.
