LBSU Game 1 in game thread

Minimal damage but I'm afraid it will be enough. The ball doesn't leave the infield and LBSU pushes one across courtesy of a Tyler Fleming walk and the 49rs lead 2-0 going to the 7th.

I know it was before the run rule, but I swear back in the day, late 80's early 90's I remember WSU consistantly scoring 20+ runs. That may have been only in one season, but couldnt we borrow some of that MOJO?? Seems like forever ago that we actually had an offensively dominating team to compliment our always good pitching staff.

For the most part we did not face the level of competition that the current team does (on a regular basis) and in fact college baseball as a whole is much deeper than 15-20 years ago. Also, those teams were loaded with big league talent at the plate combined with some blazing speed. That double threat often led to mind numbing scores.

At least we can say we are as bad as Rice on the strikeout scene against this pitcher. He really has them off balance.

I am glad to see that even without plate support, all it takes it two or three hits strung together and we will be back in this. If the hitting catches up with the pitching....watch out!
