If the game is Wednesday, Tim Kelley will get only 3 days rest before pitching again.

Does anyone know how it is we came to play this team? It isn't like they were passing through town and we flagged their bus down. Their last game was in MN and they aren't far from that state. They are in between Sioux City and Sioux Falls.

Just seems like a VERY random team to play.

I believe they were in the area to play Tabor College and their games had the same fate as ours.

Northwestern's doubleheaders versus Tabor College have been cancelled this weekend due to inclement weather in central Kansas.
          That was on Feb 22nd.

That makes more sense. I looked on their schedule and didn't see any KS teams, missed that news blurb.

The Tabor thing was what I had heard. Nice work by the coaches to find this one and good on NW Iowa to accept. Probably got gas and meal money at least for their trouble.

Their first pitcher was a pretty decent hard thrower. Some of the Shocks early hits were wind-blown jobs that are either foul or routine outs on a day without 40+ mph wind gusts. He had the Shocks guessing and was getting some good 'on-the-black' pitches called for strikes. All-in-all a good team for a mid-week tune-up.

That's what was reported in the Eegle:

The Shockers desperately needed to play after losing two games over the weekend to bad weather. Northwestern (1-2) found itself in the same situation after two games against Tabor washed out. Red Raiders coaches left a message on the WSU baseball office phone Sunday asking for a game.

According to the Eagle today, NW called the Shox office Sunday afternoon when their game with Tabor was cancelled and asked to play Monday. Shox were eager to accept and it worked out well for both teams....besides the weather of course.
