IIRC, Joe Carter and Doug Mirabelli received full rides. There may have been a handful of others but they were few and far between.

I would assume is that the reality of the college baseball scholarship situation - these student athletes in baseball have to really rely on the full aspects of financial aid (grants and loans) and academic scholarships to pay for their education.

Here is an interesting article that discusses the enemy of Men's Sports. Many are quick to blame Title IX. However, this author suggests that the real enemy of Men's sports is the NCAA Scholarship limits.
The chart titled "Follow the money" (below right) shows the results for men's sports with set starting lineups, adjusted for the minimum number of players it takes to field a team.
