I guess will worry about that if and when we get there.
But what shoud be pointed out is that in this format, no team gets a big advantage pitching-wise by playing fewer games. Whoever we play would be down to their 5th pitcher as well.

The answer is probably Johnnie Wholestaff.

We were #81 coming into the tournament. We have lost to #93 Illinois State and beat $59+ Evansville. I doubt that we have moved the needle much nor will we be able to move it much.

It's win the tournament or the season is over.

Whoever we play on Friday, if we make that far, will be down to their #4 starter. The Shocks will be on their #5 starter.

But I think you are right about Johnny Wholestaff sans Cale, A.J., Sam and Kris unless the latter two get knocked out early tomorrow.

My guess is Freshman Ryan Biechler will start if we make it to Friday.

Oops - you're right. I neglected to count the first game in my ciphering. Regardless, the stud pitchers will be long gone, although don't be surprised to see some of them in relief from other coaches. At least we don't have to watch Guttin destroy young pitchers in our bracket.

But lost to Illinois State yesterday. I will probably root for SIU over Illinois State in this afternoon's game. I think we have a better chance of beating SIU twice to get to the championship game than Illinois State. Of course, in that scenario we have to beat Illinois State once just to get the opportunity to beat SIU twice.

According to Warren Nolan, WSU came into today's game at .5278, which ranked 82nd. The site hasn't updated for today yet. Evansville has a good record (33-19 vs. D-I), so beating them will help a bit. But not that much and almost certainly not even enough to move them ahead of Evansville.

Indiana State and probably Dallas Baptist will be NCAA teams, although going out in two games could be an embarrassment for the Trees and make them a little nervous if it were to happen. Realistically, anyone else needs to win the tournament.

Didn't work out yesterday, as Murphy's 124th pitch in the 10th inning was a walkoff that may not have landed yet.

                    • MSU put up 4 runs (3 unearned) on 3 hits, a walk and 2 Indy State errors in the bottom of the 3rd to take a 4-0 lead after 3.

Cody Schumacher had thrown 63 pitches in the 1st 4 innings. In the 5th the Sycamores kind of give him a gift as he only threw 5 pitches in a 1-2-3 inning.
