  • Gm 48 - vs Bradley (3 of 3)

Casey sure has a great feel for the game of baseball. 7 for 7 in stolen base attempts for a non-base stealer.

Dayne Parker with a 2-out, 2-run homer in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game at 4-4. That a boy Dayne.

Missouri State 10 - Dallas Baptist 0 in the 7th.

Update: DBU scores 2 in the bottom of the 7th to avoid the run rule.

Shox take a 5-4 lead on a well-executed suicide squeeze.

Gillaspie manufactures another run by being intentionally walked, stealing 2nd, and kicking the throw into center field. Dearman scored. Turns out, he'll hurt you occasionally even if you DO intentionally walk him.

        6-4 End 6

Excellent. Some productive small ball. Casey with 2 stolen bases in the game and now 8 for 8 on the year. Casey beating the Braves with his legs (really his brains, but either way it works).

            Bradley pitcher falling apart.

7-4 Shox with a chance to really put this one away.

Koeiman sac bunts, Dearman sac fly, scores a run. Nice execution.

            8-4.

MSU having a little difficulty putting DBU away after leading 10-0 heading into the bottom of the 7th in Dallas.

The Bears now lead 10-5 after 8 innings.

Evansville downs SIU 8-4 in Carbondale.

Kihle is in a big-time slump. We need him to get out of it before the Valley tournament. He was the big key for the offense during the win streak.

This team really needed some things to go right this weekend for their confidence. We'll see if we can build on it with 4 more at home this week against better competition (KSU, DBU x3).

I'll settle for finishing this one off first. You never know with this group.

LaBrie had a nice confidence-building performance. The fact that Vielock is our "closer" is still terrifying.

                      Final: MSU 10 - Dallas Baptist 5.

                      Final: Evansville 8 - SIU 4

Illinois State playing out of conference this weekend against Western Illinois and Indiana State is not playing this weekend (I think they had a non-con opponent cancel on them).

After today the top 6 will all have 6 Valley games remaining. The bottom 2, Bradley and SIU, will have 3 games remaining.

                      Current Valley Standings:
                      1. Evansille 11-4 (ILS, @MSU)
                      2. Illinois State 10-5 (@EU, WSU)
                      3T. Wichita State 9-6 (DBU, @ILS)
                      3T. Dallas Baptist 9-6 (@ WSU, SIU)
                      3T. Indiana State 9-6 (MSU, @BU)
                      6. Missouri State 7-8 (@INS, EU)
                      7T. Bradley 4-14 (INS)
                      7T. Southern Illinois 4-14 (@DBU)

                        8-4 Final.

Would've been nice to see a little more offense (only 7 hits), but the execution was pretty solid, and 8 runs will get it done basically any time one of our weekend starters are on the mound.

Shocks did what they needed to do and should do sweeping the last place Braves.

                            6-0 against the bottom dwellers.

                            ... No really, deuces.
