  • Gm 39 - vs SIU (3 of 3)

The Shockers (20-18) on a 4 game winning streak....going for 5. Game has been moved up to 12 noon - assuming due to rain chances tomorrow. Shockers need to get the sweep of the series.

DBU lost 13-1 to Evansville, but is leading 4-1 (5) in the DH game
    ISUR beat SWMO 6-1

So the things are getting a little muddled in the MVC.

On the positive side the Shocks are now only 2 games out of first place. On the negative side there are still 5 teams in front of us. Just need to keep on winning.

    Go Shocks.

Shox run rule the Saluki's in 7, 11-1. We seem to have picked up a little momentum this week; hopefully it continues into next week.

Run rule win. What a difference a week makes.

Suddenly, we have hitters in the line up other than Casey and more competitive at bats throughout the order. Good for these guys, they deserve some success.

Kihle is a legit hitter.Putting his bat at the top has jump started our team.

Not to mention getting him healthy. Hopefully, getting Harbutz back after the 9-game suspensions and the knee injury have sidelined him for all but 13 games will have a similar positive impact on the Shocks down the stretch.

My hope is it continues through the remainder of the season.

Now if we could do this against the good teams in the Valley.

I know someone mentioned a week back that in order for WSU to have an RPI of 45 at the end of the season they would need to win 16 of the last 21. An RPI of 45 would probably mean borderline at-large team. I'm not sure if those projections have changed based on the movements in RPI, but 11-5 might be the goal for the remainder of the season if we want a shot at the NCAA tournament.

The update from Boyds World: http://www.boydsworld.com/baseball/rpi/rpineeds.html

Top 45 RPI: 11-5 (in some cases, 12-4)
                              Top 32 RPI: 15-1

As far as the Valley race goes, it looks to me like InSt has the upper hand. 2 series' at home and then a series at Bradley to close things out.
