The team showed some mettle today. Tewes started to wobble just a little very early when CSF got a baserunner and was trying to lay down a bunt. Tewes forgot to pitch to his strength and Brent went to the mound with one of his patented arm-waving tutorials on pitching (think he does the positive-negative-positive in those situations?). Tewes bowed his back and made a nice recovery.

I though Vielock was a little shaky but he got a couple at 'em balls to get bailed out.

The offense showed a lot more life today. There were lots and lots of baserunners and a couple more hits in crucial spots and the game is more like 6-2 or 7-2. There were a few balls that were scorched and not too many wind-aided jobs. Parker's triple would have been a routine fly out on a normal day. The CSF HR was definitely a wind-blown gift.

I'm not sure we can count on extended winning streaks since the hitting is so sporadic, but if the pitching stays solid anything is possible.

I was impressed Saturday and Sunday with how the team persevered.

Learning to find ways to win close, low scoring games is the key to our season this year.

Yes, and I am a little bit concerned about how strong we are in the closer role. Not sure I've totally bought into Foster Vielock.

I like what I see with how this team handles themselves. I know they are older, and that certainly matters, but I like to think it's mostly due to different leadership.

I really don't know, so I'm asking, how many of our quality games were already on the schedule? Again, it seems HCTB was able to get some things done FHCGS at the end was not.

Huge 9 game stretch. There's a real chance to light a fire that SHOULD be blazing in Shocker baseball.

            Good luck guys! Go Shox!

I think Brent gets most, if not all, of the credit for the tough schedule we have this year.

I got the impression that virtually all of the schedule was in place before Butler arrived. He expressed some surprise early on at the difficulty of the schedule. Honestly, this may be one of the best schedules in the last 15 years or more. Not only that, the Valley has surprisingly held its own during the non-con so league games won't be an automatic RPI drag. Adding DBU helps, too.

The MVC could very well be a 3 bid league this year.

Are you saying that we have a chance?

Is it too early to get excited?

JJ Clamdip, Mo Valley John and I are going to the CWS. Will the Shocks be there as well?

                    Just wondering.

Thought you guys may be interested in the scathing review CSF's coach gave of his team on Sunday by way of Baseball America. Also, it sounds like BA has a story on WSU coming up this week. http://www.baseballamerica.com/colle...-week-seven-4/

WSU's pitching this year (especially on the weekend) is average in a "good enough to win a regional, but maybe not good enough to carry a team all the way to Omaha" kind of way.

It is a sad sign of the state of affairs when a quality team loses a series 2-1 AT WSU, and their coach goes ballistic.

Also, there was more than one team missing multiple key contributors this weekend.
