  • Whew! I'll take it. Looks like the compliance folks got out in front of this to the NCAA's satisfaction, and it will be resolved fairly early in the season when we likely would have been experimenting with lineups and midweek rotations anyway.
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

    • Is there anything that requires the games to be set out consecutively or can it be 3, 6, 9 games over the course of the season?

I'm sure it has to be consecutively. Otherwise, a starting pitcher would essentially never be punished as his "suspension" games would simply be the games he wasn't starting.

        • HCTB said the ncaa gave them some leeway as to how the suspensions were to be served as to when they had to start as in our starting pitcher on friday got to pitch but started his suspension the following day.

          • The Eagle article said "Butler is allowed to stagger the suspensions, especially important because of the number of pitchers involved. Elam, for example, pitched Friday and will likely miss six games before starting again. Brummett is scheduled to pitch Sunday. Baker will serve his three-game suspension this weekend.

“I thought it was going to be consecutive games, but it is a staggering process,” he said. “That gives us a little bit of relief and comfort from the NCAA. The position players, we’ll probably go consecutive games and try to get that out of the way. I’m going into the weekend thinking ‘We’re not going to use these guys.’ We’ll try to stick to that, but the games will dictate a lot.”

This wording just leaves me in doubt as to whether the suspensions have to be served consecutively or not. It probably just means that all of the suspensions do not have to be served consecutively at the same time.

            • The start of each individual suspension can begin at a different time but once the suspension clock begins on each player the games run consecutively is the way I read it.

              • Suspensions

Foster Vielock is out 9 games from what I read. He missed the 1st 3 games & them pitched the 9th inning of the 4th game yesterday. Drew Palmer is also on the 9-game suspension list & he pitched the 2nd game, if I recall correctly. Tyler Baker missed the 1st 3 games of his 3 game suspension, so he was back for the 4th game. Cale Elam pitched the 1st game. Maybe he'll serve his 6 game suspension in consecutive games now & has completed 3 of them. It's Vielock & Palmer that I wonder about.

                • Hopefully, the baseball apparel issue will be put to bed today.

Sexton, coach Todd Butler and former coach Gene Stephenson were in a group that traveled to NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis on Thursday. That had to be interesting.

It is also interesting that Dr. Bardo will be issuing the statement.

Interesting to read FHCGS traveled with Sexton (and HCTB) last Thursday.
Gene and Sexton burying the hatchet? Do I see a naming of the Gene Stephenson baseball complex on the horizon?
Hope Brent can reach out to Gene too and assuage the taste of betrayal and bitterness that Gene might be feeling.

                    Go Shox!

That's definitely the optimistic viewpoint. OTOH it could have been a uncomfortably chilly trip. Perhaps Gene just wanted to make sure he wasn't going to be the scapegoat. Let's hope you are right. Again, having a statement coming from Dr. Bardo and not from ADES is kind of intriguing to me.

University officials testified in front the NCAA (including gene). Now the university is waiting for the NCAA impose their punishment. Somebody has to be made an example of for North Carolina violations - probably the book will be thrown at wsu.

Here is the update. WSU now waiting to hear back from NCAA for final ruling and resolution. Participants are bound by confidentiality agreements until the NCAA Responds.

Gene was there but travelled separately. So much for any hopes of a reconciliation.

                              It takes two to reconcile.

WSU's best chance is that at least the misbehavior wasn't academic. Now, if they had done this with textbooks...
