  • Shane Dennis Radio Show

Wasn't quite sure where to put this so I thought I would put it where it would get the most eyeballs.

Shane Dennis will be hosting his own sports talk radio show on KFH1240 at 5 to 7 pm following Doug Gottlieb beginning on October 21st.

Best of luck to Shane. Hopefully Shane will continue to do Shocker baseball games as well. Not sure that radio time slot fits very well with doing Shocker baseball at least for weekday games.

I wish an MLB team would give Shane a shot on the radio or in the TV booth. As far as I am concerned he is every bit as good anyone on the air now for the KC Royals.

I admit that I don't know a lot about Shane, but are you honestly saying he's as good as Ryan Lefebvre in KC? I admit that his sidekicks in KC aren't all that great, but Ryan is one of the best.

I agree that Ryan L. has a good radio voice. And while he does a decent job, his love of grit - and subsequently, gritty, crappy players - would not be missed.

That said, give Shane a shot to replace Steve Physioc.

The thing with Shane he can do very well either as the P-by-P man or the color commentator. And he is good on both Radio or TV.

His work, both quality and quantity, in last year's MVC Tournament was impressive.

I'm am honestly saying I believe KC could improve either their TV or Radio broadcasts if they added Shane to the mix. I'll leave it up to you who to replace but an easy choice to go is Rex Hudler. Shane is versatile enough that you can use him in just about any capacity on the Radio or TV broadcasts.

Don't get me started on Hud. He's a good interview because of his passion, but if I were Ryan or anyone else, I'd have launched him out of the broadcast booth within the first week of last season.

I didn't like Rex at first, but I like him now, a lot. He's exactly what KC needs as they expand their fanbase. As long as he doesn't say "put it on the boooaaarrrd" for any other reason than to mock Hawk Harrelson, Rex is welcome in my living room.

Again, I say replace Physioc. In the words of Rex, "he got to go!"

Getting the thread back on topic, I'm very happy with this news. Shane knows a hell of a lot about everything and knows how to talk.

Now I have something worth listening to on the drive home.

Shane will continue to work Shocker Baseball games:

Keep talking — Shane Dennis will return as color analyst for Shocker baseball. Dennis, a former WSU pitcher who worked for former coach Gene Stephenson as director of operations, lost his job when Stephenson was fired and replaced by Todd Butler in June. He now works in sales for Entercom Comunications, which owns five Wichita radio stations. He will host a talk show on KFH (1240-AM, 98.7-FM) from 5-7 p.m. weekdays.

“(Butler) encouraged me to keep doing the radio,” Dennis said. “He gave me his blessing.”

It wouldn't take much to shutdown that crap that's on 1410 during afternoon drive. Good luck to Shane, he is a good radio man and a great guy. He deserves a real shot in broadcasting, if that is what he wants.

Do you mean 1410? Or do you mean Dennis Miller & Jason Lewis? Just curious.

Had the opportunity to listen for a while yesterday and he did a good job considering it was the first show. Hope he does well and looking forward to his show as the basketball season approaches. I know he will do a great job on the World Series.

Yep, I also listened to much of the first hour. I hope Shane does well. Mike Kennedy was the first to call in so you know it was good.

Oops. Fixed. Yes, 1410. I rather enjoy Dennis Miller's irreverence for practically everything.

The bad news is that I'm now a Wichita to OKC commuter so local Wichita radio isn't on my radar much.
