I don't believe there are any restrictions preventing Gene from coaching next year once WSU bought out and terminated his contract.

Often times it does matter. If he takes another job, he could get less of a payout or owe money back to WSU depending on how it was all settled.

Kind of like what Bradley has had with Les when he took the UC-Whatever job. There were some legal issues going around that and I'm not sure how it was settled or if it has been.
