You can get the AB's by dividing the hits by the BA. For example Tyler Baker is batting .219 with 21 hits. So he has 96 (21/.219) official AB's. With 26k's he is striking out 27% of his official AB's and around 24% of his total AB's. He has 11 walks so his OBA is at least 0.290 (could be higher with a couple of HBP's). Not picking on Tyler, he just happenned to be list first.
But as you say not a lot to write home and brag about.
Dayne Parker putting up some decent numbers in Alaska and Chase Simpson with a very solid 0.526 slugging percentage for Mankato which I think is in the solid Northwest League.
Garrett Brummett with solid numbers for the Dodge City A's although I'm not sure how strong the Jayhawk League is these days. Austin Sanders numbers are OK also, but again those are in the Walter Johnson League which is probably not the toughest summer league. Kris Gardner has been just fair for the Bourne Braves in the tough Cape Cod League. Giving up quite a few hits. Not sure what kind of use restrictions Kemnitz has on his pitchers during the summer. I'm sure it varies from pitcher to pitcher.
Not sure what to read into summer ball performances. However, it is hard to get real excited about most of those stats reported by goShockers.com.Last edited by 1972Shocker; July 8, 2013, 08:51 PM.

Good point 1972 ... seems as though I've forgotten the ins & outs of baseball stats and how to compute with what was given.
But yes, IMO ... just a lot of low BA's & nothing to really get "pumped" about. It is just summer ball, but I've seen many guys make significant strides through summer ball that really propelled them into the next season. Plus summer ball is right after the regular NCAA season, so you'd assume that the best ball would be played then instead of fall, or coming back the next spring.Up your nose with a rubber hose - Barbarino
