Brown makes Gene look like a kid, he cheats and bends the rules, and he doesn't stick around long -- and when has he ever had to worry about finding a job?
Gene's stature in college baseball is at least equal to that of Larry Brown in basketball.
Four Words....University of North Texas. They are starting a baseball program in two years and there is know one on planet Earth more qualified for the that job then Gene Stephenson.

Does anyone think he has enough gas in the tank to start a 2nd program?
I don't know about your "I don't know about that one". It could be all hype, but BK is talking up about getting a multi-year contact being put together and seems awfully upbeat (I know, he's just that way) about his future here. Add to this the events of today where others have mentioned that BK seems almost re-energized with his new situation, he may just stay planted here. What's that mean? Frankly, I'm not sure how attractive Gene is without BK. Even over our last 10-13 years when the hitting has been, for the most part, getting very average among all D-I programs, the pitching, until very recent, has still been very good. 5 of the Shockers 10 best years for ERA has been during that time, including 2011.
Look at it this way, if the Shocker pitching had gone down over the last 10-13 years as much as the hitting has, I'm not sure they could have found much of a gig. Without BK, a new team would be getting Gene's (and JT's) offense minus the pitching.

I have trouble picturing a 67 y/o coach waiting around 2 years to start another program from scratch, and even more trouble picturing an AD who thinks it's a good idea in the first place.
"3. Brad Hill. The Kansas State coach got the Wildcats within one win of the College World Series this season and has done a tremendous job. K-State is the only non-coastal, non-Southern school to make the NCAA Tournament four straight years. He’s a 1985 graduate of Emporia State."
Umm...what? The only school? Does the Mason-Dixon cut slice LackofTitleTown from FinalFourville or does 16 straight mean not 4 straight?
