Ugh....horrible 1st and the Shocks might be done already. If UE wasn't so bad, I might call this one after 1....

        For now 4-0 bad guys.

I'm sorry but Ladwig is probably Friends-caliber.

I imagine the boys will call it a game and there'll be a lot of swinging for the fences.

A.J. has struggled no doubt, but I don't think Friends caliber is fair.

He's been nails since the first. The four runs was as much a product of fielding (mostly his own) as pitching. Since then only 2 balls have left the infield and he's given up just 1 hit and no walks.

Shocks trail 4-2 and are rapidly running out of outs.

Strange first inning where A.J. gave up 4 runs on 4 hits...but only threw 13 pitches. I would say he wasn't fooling anyone, but he's been just as efficient since then, and the Aces can't hit him. He's only thrown 68 pitches through 6 full.

            4-2 into the 7th now.

Actually AJ had a pretty good outing. Other than that throwing error in the first inning, he really pitched pretty well. But it is always tough to win when you spot the other team 4 runs in the top of the first inning.

                  ??

                  WHIP 1.5
6 runs in 8 inning to the 2nd worst hitting team in the MVC

Doesn't matter when you give up the runs - first or 9th inning - they all count the same.

Wow. I admittedly don't follow the baseball team very close, but just seeing the end of Gene's interview on the news pretty much tells you all you need to know about the season to this point. Asked who he was going to have pitch tomorrow, he just went silent and hung his head for a few seconds before saying "I guess I'll try Palmer again" and walking off.

It sounds like from Brent's radio show that Drew Palmer will be the starter tomorrow with Kris Gardner probably starting on Tuesday.

He did have a very shaky first inning with the throwing error (his own error). But he shook it off and pitched 7 good innings after that. I think most people there who actually watched him pitch thought he did a good job after the shaky start and error.

Fitting that we would lose sole possession of first place for likely the last time this year against one of the worst teams in the league.

Illinois St surprisingly took 2 from Indy St yesterday, knocking the Trees way back in the Valley race. The Shox are tied with the Bears for first, Cu is a came behind the co-leaders and Illinois St is now 1 1/2 games out of first. Indy St which appeared to have the easiest remaining schedule has fallen 2 1/2 games behind the Shox.

Looks like Drew Palmer will get the start today. He was pretty shaky last weekend, hopefully he can give the Shox at least 6 good innings today.
