I read in the Eagle something along the lines that KSU has a team batting average around .330! (4th in the nation). Their SOS is currently sitting at 123 so not exactly world beating, but considering our team batting average is .287 against a SOS of 239, that speaks volumes on just how atrocious our hitting is.
This potentially has the makings of being our worst season in a very long time, and what would add insult to injury to this fiasco is the likelihood of getting swept by KSU and KU, (KSU has won 6 of the last 10 against us by the way). That possibility, by itself, is enough for me to throw my hands up in the air and almost consider turning my back on this program unless our AD grows a pair and decides to implement a pay for performance pay structure for Gene and Co., or do something more drastic and usher in a new era in Shocker baseball. You may coach an average team, but when it comes to the other in-state programs, you need to figure out a way to keep them from overtaking us by getting these important wins.
On the flip side, if the Shox can find magic in a bottle and somehow sweep or at the very least split the series with our in-state brethren, I'll consider this a small victory and won't cause me to tumble over the edge.
