  • Shocks Host Indiana State - Final Four Weekend

Shocks take the series opener Friday night with a 4-1 win over Indiana State.

Not a lot of offense in this game on a night with the wind blowing briskly out to left field. Shocks with 6 hits and the Sycamores with 4 hits. The Shocks committed 2 errors to none for the Sycamores.

Shockers were helped mightily by some charity from Indiana State pitchers in the form of walks.

In the 3rd, Cody Bobbitt doubles with 1 out. After Garrett Bayliff grounded out to SS, Casey G. and Tyler Baker walked to load the bases. Johnny Coy made them pay with a 2-out, 2-run single up the middle.

In the 6th, Erik Harbutz singled up the middle and Mikel Mucha reached safely on a bunt single to put runners at 1st and 2nd with no outs. Dayne Parker popped up to the C trying to bunt and Joe Haddox popped out to SS. Cody Bobbitt then beat out an infield grounder to 3rd base to load the bases. Indiana State's relief pitcher kindly delivered 2 runs with back-to-back walks to Garrett and Casey.

Cale Elam picked up the win allowing 1 unearned run on 3 hits and 3 walks over 7 innings and Albert Minnis closed out the final two innings allowing 1 hit and 1 walk.

Shocks still struggling to string any offense together. They may not have scored tonight if it wasn't for the free passes by Sycamore pitchers at key points in the game.

I don't think either of these teams will particularly remind you of the 1927 Yankees.

looks like the Shox are going to luck out and have a chance to sweep with Indiana State best pitcher (Sean Manaea 1.14 ERA, 46K in 39 IP, opponent BA 0.172) hurt.

Shox won Friday, Sat makes two in a row, why not make it three on Sunday?

funny how SWMO was suppose to be the reincarnation of their only CWS team - they are sitting tied for 4th. Even a really down WSU team is still better than the MVC.

Way to jinx the win streak JJ. I'll tell you, you are like the floater in a punch bowl.

Went to the first game of the year thanks to getting out to the basketball pep rally and the rain delay.

Boy, those two runs that scored thanks to Doggett not putting his glove down and letting the ball roll to the fence with two outs sure stings.
