My two favorite college baseball programs squaring off. Although the Dirtbags are only 6 - 11, they've scheduled tough as usual and their record reflects that.
They'll be throwing Shane Carle on Friday who is 1 - 2 with a ND, but owns a 1.82 ERA. His losses have come against AZ State and Vanderbilt throwing a total of 11.2 innings and only giving up 4 earned runs.
This looks to be a low scoring series as CSULB has only one player who hits over .300 (team avg. is .232). The entire team has ONLY three HR's on the season - weird. Then again, when you have played their schedule, the hitting is going to come at a premium. Now that they are facing our pitching, perhaps they'll light up the scoreboard - who knows.
It figures that when we face a down CSULB, we happen to be slumping as a program too. No predictions, this series is a coin flip, but I will say Friday appears to be a loss as Carle looks to be a nasty pitcher.
