  • North Dakota in Town for 2 before West Coast?Hawaii Trip

The Shocker exhibition season comes to a close with two games this week on Tuesday and Wednesday against the University of North Dakota (formerly the Fighting Sioux but they are currently without a nickname as the have dropped the Fighting Sioux and will transition to a new nickname/mascot in the future).

UND is 7-4-1 against Mount Mary (3-1), St. Cloud State (1-1), Mary (1-0-1) and Nebraska-Omaha (2-1) and St. Louis (0-1).

Looks like the Shocks will represent UND's World Series for the 2013 season.

My guess is Tobin Mateychick and Zach Berringer will be the Shocker starters for these games.

Speaking of our west coast trip, has anyone noticed that Hawaii has started the season 1 - 14? Playing 10 games against Rice, Oregon and UNLV has a lot to do with that record, but even a 5 - 9 Bradley beat them. Does this mean we actually have a chance of going 4 - 1 or 5 - 0 against them?

Surely you jest? We aren't going 5-0 against ANYONE in D1.

Mateychick and Berringer confirmed as Shocker starters on goShockers.com

Hopefully, Tobin will use this opportunity to lower his 11.12 ERA and Zach will follow up with another good outing to show we will be able to contribute this year.

Any truth to the rumor that they are going to transition to the Fighting Sues? If nothing else it will make them tough as hell. Just ask Johnny Cash.

Actually they could use a singular mascot like the Stanford Cardinal and call themselves the "FIGHTING SUE".

WSU will be in trouble if the "Boy named sue" will be on the bump!

                    Not this team at least.

I starting to think one could win 45 games with this schedule and still not have an RPI in the top 40

Wow!! Game interest has hit an all time high!

Well, I'll add a little something. We did win 6-1 and our pitchers struck out 15.

Of course we were lucky they didn't start the second pitcher of the day, 4 innings of 1 hit, shutout ball while making only 36 pitches.

Our pitchers threw a 3 hit, 1 run game. Of course it took 152 pitches to get it done. Guess that happens when you strikeout 15 and walk 6.

Casey hit a dinger, Johnny went 0-3 with a sac RBI. Little used Joe Haddox came in late and went 1-1 getting his first hit of the season. That was the only hit the Shocks got over the last 4 innings.

In other news Illinois State pounded #29 Miami 17-6. Any chance a WSU team can score 17 runs in a game, against ANYONE?

Texas was lucky to get by ORU in Austin 4-3.

Mighty Pittsburgh is 6-5 since leaving Wichita...lost to West Virginia today.

Missouri State is 10-3. ISU, by the way, is 4-7 after blitzing the Canes.

CU is 6-3. BU is 5-9. Trees are 5-5. UE is 4-9. SIU is 8-6. Nobody has played a great schedule. The Aces have had some tough games at least. We've played the worst schedule I think.

                              Central Arkansas is ranked #29.
