Don't subscribe to Baseball America but they have a story up with the headline

    Programs on the Rise: Evansville
Purple Aces are now the class of the Missouri Valley

The class of the Valley was coined by Gene Stepehenson after they lost

They play the game the way it's supposed to be played, they are well coached, their players get good pitches to hit, they play very good defense, and their pitchers can command the strike zone. Evansville is the team that deserves to go to the tournament."
It seems typical Gene feeling sorry for himself and taking a dig at his team, but it's kind of like spitting out a lugi in car driving down the road 70 mph, it will fly back in and hit you in the face - because everything he complained about comes right back to coaching.

Also the story is touting "Evansville figures to compete with a loaded Wichita State team in 2007", except it's Creighton and SIU that showing up in the polls. Don't get me wrong, I hope they do compete - the better the MVC is, the better chance WSU can get National Seed if they take care of business.

SB - this article is old. Evansville was loaded with upperclassmen last year and after a decent 2006 expectations were high. Didn't work out too well for them. They finished 13-11 in confeence and in a 3 way tie for 3rd - 7 games behind WSU and 6 behind Creighton.
