Tyler Baker continues his hot hitting with a double to lead-off the 6th. Eric Harbutz followed with a bunt single and Tyler scored the go ahead run as Eric move up to 2nd.

    Shocks lead 2-1.

Albert Minnis replaces Tobin on the mound in the bottom of the 6th with one out and a runner on 1st after a single. Very solid outing by Tobin even if UNO is not a very good hitting team.

Minnis loads the bases in the bottom of the 7th on a single, hit batter and a walk but gets a strike out to end the threat.

      Shocks still lead 2-1.

I'm checking during the basketball timeout. Halftime right now.

In the 9th, with 1 out, Mikel Mucha single then stole second. Dayne Parker delivered him with a single. Garrett Bayliff followed that with a triple, then scored on a wild pitch.

Shocks up now by a much more comfortable 5-1 score.

Johnny Coy struggling mightily. He he was 0-5 today with 4 K's and weak tap back to the picher. I think he has now struck out 14 times in 30 AB's this year. Not sure what the best approach for Johnny is at this point. Try to play through it or maybe sit awhile and watch. Not sure.

Brandon Peterson in to close the game. Brandon gives up a bloop double with 2-outs, but then got a K to end the game. Nice win for the Shocks. Give credit to the pitching staff today. Tobin, Albert and Brandon. Good job guys.

Johnny should move down in the order to 5 maybe and 17 move to 4.
First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.

If Johnny is struggling with a hot Tyler Baker hitting behind him I'm not sure moving him down in the lineup where he isn't protected will help the situation. Either move him up to 3 and Casey to the 4-hole or sit him down for a little while and let give him a break. IMHO.

Cale Elam with the start against UCA. Tyler Baker getting a rest as Parker Zimmerman will get the start at catcher. Garrett Bayliff also sitting out this game. Doggett, Kihle and Green in the outfield. Coy still in the 4-spot but is the DH and Casey G. will be at 1st.

BTW, this hasn't exactly been warm weather baseball today. Just above freezing for the UNO game earlier today and around 40 degrees at game time for UCA.

A sweep today would be a nice pick me up after the hoops game. Hopefully Cale can settle in and show some progress.

Shocks got some major work to do to come up with that 2nd win today. UCA pretty much outplaying the Shocks in all phases lead the Shocks 6-1 after 5 complete.

Shocks really battling know. It took the UCA pitcher 10 pitches to strike out Kihle, Doggett and Dearman.

I would say the Shocks have few punch and judy hitters on the roster, but not sure I can really use the term punch for those guys.

What a freakin' joke. Losing to a program who has had four straight losing seasons. What in thee hell has happened to this program?

In the top of the 8th with 2 outs the Shocks get 4 consecutive hits from Eric Harbutz (1B), Micah Green (2B), Dayne Parker (1B) and Tyler Baker (1B - pinch hit for Parker Zimmerman) to produce 2 runs making the score 6-3 with runners on 1st and 3rd bringing the tying run.

Sean Moore pinch hitting for Daniel Kihle grounds out back to the pitcher.

Shocks get a 2-out single from Casey G. but nothing else in the 9th.

The Shocks actually had a number of good scoring opportunities but simply could not get the clutch hit.

Cale pretty much gift-wrapped UCA's 3-run 3rd inning by hitting 2 batters, walking 2 and throwing the ball away on a sac bunt attempt.

Shocks even their record at 4-4 which may well be what we are. A 0.500 team.

Still concerned about our depth of quality on both the pitching staff and at the plate. I think Kris Gardner is the real deal. After that I don't know. We have 4 guys swinging the bats good right now: Casey G, Tyler B, Eric H and Micah G.
I think Dayne Parker might hit a little. Johnny Coy -- I don't know. Right now he is struggling. Nobody else appears ready to contribute on a consistent basis.

I thought Johhny was going to break all kinds of homerun records this year? Guess that's what I get for reading the paper.
