I hope someone from the athletic department is reading this. After hearing of this BS I will not renew my baseball tickets next year.I already have buyers remorse this year and have had tickets for 15 years. Why in the hell did I spend my money that I worked my butt off for and you they give away tickets for next to nothing. If I could return my tickets I would and I love baseball.I have missed 3 games since 2000.Dont really care to pay for tickets if the university sees them as almost worthless.

If I had not renewed my baseball tickets this year, I would have definitely done this. I will probably not renew them next year after they pulled this move. I was a little put out by the holiday offer of buying a Valley-only basketball package and receiving a 20-game baseball package, but this took it to a new level. I understand the logic, but it's a slap in the face to baseball season ticket holders (and softball too, I suppose) and it seems a little low-budget (a la UNI Athletic Department) for our guys. Disappointed.Originally posted by tru2thaduce View PostI hope someone from the athletic department is reading this.
What I do not understand is why the athletic department didn't come up with something like 2 tickets to 4 games of baseball and softball. That would have been a plus for even season ticket holders as they could have invited others to the games to join them or given some away to get others to experience the games without them having the feeling they spent hard earned money for something less ardant fans now get free.
There appears to be an attitude that if you support WSU athletics, you must be well heeled and such a promotion would mean nothing to you as you have money to burn. Maybe its time they took a further look at the number of rank and file that help make WSU athletics successful.

A lot of your frustrations can be attributed to the fact that the majority of the workforce in the athletic department is a bunch of inexperienced twenty somethings coming up with these wonderful ideas. Just look around when you're at an event. At best, a handful of very young thirty year olds looking for the next best job out there.

"Other people got free stuff that I paid money for whaa whaa whaaa"
When I went to WSU they let people, especially the elderly, audit classes. You could show up and learn the material but you didn't get credit and you didn't take exams. Maybe some people here could audit an Econ 101 class.
WSU said the tickets cost X.
You agreed to their value and paid X.
Later WSU said the tickets now cost Y.
You don't get to complain that the cost changed. You agreed to their value at X. What happens after that has no affect on what you thought of their value.
And besides me busting your chops, if you don't see the value in financially supporting baseball (something you claim to enjoy well enough) then you really don't get it.

As far as busting chops and financially supporting the team, maybe you should keep to evaluating yourself and not others. Maybe they are not as ardent a fan of baseball, maybe they are upset about how far the program has fallen to resort to this kind of promotion, maybe their financial decision was just not as easy as yours, maybe they support a lot of other WSU sports more than you and made a decision to place their funds elsewhere. Whatever, this promotion just dropped a once proud baseball program into the "just another sport" category at WSU and gives the same image of the baseball program here as many others on this board laugh about at other schools.

Did any ShockerNet members take advantage of this promotion? Do any ShockerNet members know of anyone who took advantage of this promotion?
Just curious.
I guess the 1st thing you had to do was stop by the ticket office and pick up a Shocker Passport. Then have the passport stamped when presented at each event.
Anyone go to the Tennis match? If so, what kind of crowd did they have?
I will go first: No I did not take advantage of the promotion and no I do not know anyone else who did either.

I did. I go to the games and now that my daughter is old she will tag along to many of them. So this makes it easier than sneaking her in. Plus I knew two diehards who couldn't afford to renew so I gave them a pair.
At most 100 people at tennis. Many people came, stamped, left. Some stuck around for free food.

About the only Shocker sport I would probably not watch would be Cross Country, which just doesn't lend itself to spectating. Not a lot of opportunities to watch the Golf teams and I would only want to watch that if I could follow the team around the course.
