Holy Crap people even if he lacks his degree he can't be that far off. Did he play 3 or 4 years for WSU? Could he not finish it in a rather timely matter. Some act like he would have 120 credit hours to go and it isn't something that could be accomplished.
On Mark: Don't forget he owned and ran Sluggers and coached the Sluggers summer ball teams for quite awhile. Between now coaching with success in college and that previous background I would make him my #1 choice. Hooper would certainly be my second choice. I do think Hooper would have the greatest ability to put some "energy" back into the program but that is a metric you can't really measure

And Hooper was here 4 full years. He does have to be close. The worst he could be looking at would be a total of 96 hrs completed.

Does Standiford still have anything to do with Sluggers? I was under the impression that he didn't, but I'd be surprised. As it stands, a Standiford/Hooper combo (doesn't matter which is head and which is assistant) would be excellent. Sadly, I doubt that we will see either one as a coach at WSU as they both seem to be happy where they are at.

Obviously you need more than Kansas kids but he would hit the ground running in that department.

Pretty sure Mark S. is no longer involved with Sluggers and would probably loved driving to WSU instead of Hillsboro and back every day. Take a look at his roster, granted they are not d1 kids but he has kids from all over the west coast coming to Hillsboro..gotta believe he can recruit the next level

It is known that Brent is okay being the number 2 guy. And what head coach would not keep Brent on as pitching coach? I think the lack of success that the program is having is now finally bleeding over and taking effect on the pitching staff and Brent's ability to get top level pitchers to come here.
Here is my vote:
Mark Standiford, Head Coach, infield and hitting
Brent Kemnitz, Pitching Coach
Candidates for assistant coach:
Brian McRae - at a small college in Missouri getting his degree helping coach. Would be big time help in recruiting midwest talent and has a name. Owns KC Sluggers Academy.
Matt Baty - has played both infield and outfield, great hitter. Help us land midwest guys. Coaches at Sluggers Academy - never even talked to Matt to know if he is interested or not.
Hooper - No need to introduce. I think Hooper would jump at any opportunity, doesnt have to be HC.
What other names do you have and why?
I think realisticly we have to stick with midwest guys. We cannot go out and recruit california kids and expect them to come play in this cold weather state. I didnt say we need to forget about California but our concentration needs to stay in KS, CO, NE, MO, OK, TX, AR. Just my $.02
