    Yep.

I will say that Brent can probably go make good money as a pitching coach somewhere after next season, and part of me will be sad to see him go. Anyone who pays JT a dime after he gets let go, on the other hand, is batshit crazy.

But the cancer has spread too far to save some and spare others at this point. They're all in it to the bitter end.

Remind me again which team has the state of the art indoor facility and which one has probably split time with the softball team hitting wiffle balls in the rec center's gymnasium. You can't judge a baseball team by one game, and Pitt might turn out to be a better team than expected as the year goes on, but there is no reason they should look sharper than WSU on opening day, on the road no less.

Pittsburgh also looked way more excited to be playing baseball.

It certainly looked that way to me. Those guys seemed into the game the whole time and when WSU came back to tie the game twice they really seemed to get pumped up and were determined to take back the lead. After the game they celebrated like they had just won an ncaa tournament game. Hopefully the in your face antics of their winning pitcher and their post game celebration fires up the Shox.

                  All Valley teams played today.

We were the only one to lose.

Did it seem there were some looks an $#it being talked toward the dugout on the last out?

When I first started going to games, the Shox had players that looked like men. Now it just seems they are boys-- thin, small and quick but little to no power.

It was cold as crap in the stands and the ending made it worse. Several hitters today looked so over matched by Pitt it wasn't even fair. Pitt just ripped pitch after pitch.... I had high hopes (not sure why) but it looks to me like this will be a good defensive team, but one that will struggle to hit for power.

I thought IN St and Bradley also lost.

I always (sadly) chuckle when I see/hear about WSU will at least have a good defense. Last year's team tied for the best fielding % in Shocker history. Yet, if I remember right, when compared to the other Valley teams last year, our fielding % was in the middle of the pack. In other words, our best fielding % team in Shocker history is somewhat average. Not a lot to hang one's hat on.

You could hear in the background of the radio broadcast Pitt's celebration. Embarrassing. We gave up 14 freakin' hits today? Are you serious?

Let's see how the first 4-6 weeks go. Pitt had a heck of a pitcher and they certainly used him as long as possible.

Curious.... Does BK protect his pitchers too much? Seems to have a history of good, underworked pitchers who when they make the Big Leagues suffer from injury. Perhaps he protects them a bit too much and doesn't really improve their arm strength and endurance.
