  • We played 61 games. 12, almost 20%, against teams that are hosting a regional. We were 2-10 in those 12 games.

At least 6 former Shockers will be part of hosting a regional.

And if you think NIL didn’t play a part in a former Shocker pitcher who has the lowest ERA among qualified pitchers for the team that will be the #1 overall seed in the tournament, I have a bridge for you.

I see what we did this year, and know that we are a couple coaching decisions from 3rd. I know HCBG is harder on himself than I will ever be. That will be corrected as the ship was righted after the meltdown in April.

Imagine this core group with Tolle and one other quality bullpen guy that left. We are that close, yet that far away.

      6 figures over 3 years gets a Regional host a #2 pitcher.

      We can do that.

Who are the 6? Tolle, candiotti, Pennington?

        • Cranz, Pennington, Snead (referenced above), Candiotti, Minor, Henry (not active). Tolle and TCU aren't hosting.

David Herring and ORU made the tourney. Herring might have been tournament MVP (I like Durnin a LOT better).

          • I certainly don't have the answers and I don't really want to get into the speculation game. We (and everyone else) will continue to see players through the revolving door that is the portal. I have no idea if we've taken a step forward or not, or if the current plan is the key to long term success, or not.....

Is it better to have a Nate Snead you almost certainly lose in year 2 (or 3) or try to develop a Cam Bye that may or may not turn into anything? IDFK. Above my pay grade.

Do you just basically give up recruiting top talent or do you try to punch above your weight? Again, I have no idea.

We'll keep some kids, we'll lose some kids.....some we'll be happy about, some not so much. And we'll start again next fall.

I did enjoy watching and supporting this group of young men this season. A LOT.

I thank them all and I hope every single one of them that wants to stay does, and succeeds wildly.

            • It was good baseball. Good fundamentals and especially patience at the plate was outstanding.

Just saw that as well. Sad. Tcu over Florida or k state should have happened.

                  • The only conclusion I can draw is that we should have been way better in 23’ considering all the talent we lost, especially pitching. I would have never admitted that until now. How or why we were not better is a debatable topic in which there may be several answers for.

Obviously the last staff could recruit as evidenced by the Freshmen we have. I think our Freshmen pitchers will develop but we need a couple of horses to bridge the gap. If you watch teams that are at the top of the food chain, they all have players that look like they are 24 years old (and some are).

                    On the same note:

I would bet money a lot of the P5 schools look the other way when it comes to the juice. Now with NIL money, players can afford their own “nutritional coaches” without the school getting their hands dirty. Pitchers that don’t throw 95 in college now are considered low to medium velocity.

Ironic considering Tolle could’ve been the one missing piece that would have gotten us there had he stayed.

We definitely win the tournament and win at least 4-5 more regular season games, maybe more.
