We have now tied our second best win total in AAC tournament history. How’s that for polishing a piece of poop?

We got to Yesavage a bit in the regular season but we must have 6-7 solid innings from Tommy to have a chance. And then pray whoever they bring out in relief doesn’t implode under pressure.
But that’s 2 long days away. Now it’s time to just kick it back and hopefully watch chaos ensue, while sipping back on our 1-0 tea.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Maybe it's just me, but even up 8-1, I'm not comfortable. Must be the dreaded Gene curse or it could be the lack of great Shockers closers like Jamie Bluma, Braden Looper, Jim Newlin, etc. Guys that came in and you knew it was OVER!
Sometimes I forget how great we were... had a little of that 'throwback' feeling again today.

One of the posters on the AAC board said Norby is gonna start game 2 for ECU and they’re saving Yesabage for game 3. Interesting to say the least. But really, it doesn’t matter who they throw out. Tommy has to be on for us to have a chance. Big spot for a frosh.Deuces Valley.

Proud of you all for holding down the fort and not screwing it up.
After that first play error, man, what a breath of fresh postseason air. That's how you play baseball. Contributions up and down the lineup, with the bottom half more than carrying the load. We're gonna need Williams to find it again by Thursday if we're gonna keep this thing rolling though.
The way the schedule sets up isn't terrible for WSU. You need a good start, to get a lead, and then you can throw every bit of bullpen you have at GM1 cause if you win you get a day off. And the same thing happens in GM2, with a day off on Friday available. That's not bad for a team with a couple good starters and a top-heavy bullpen.
It's fun to have fun again, even if reality comes crashing down again on Thursday. They were out there making plays all the way through the game, in all 3 phases of the game. Not perfect, but it's friggin' baseball, and college baseball at that. They looked and acted like the better team from the 2nd batter of the game til the end.

Edit: The posted lineup has Norby starting today. He only has 41ip in 16app/8starts.Last edited by Cdizzle; May 21, 2024, 12:58 PM.

I don't think Norby has pitched since GM2 of the Tulane series in which they got swept, where he got hit around a little bit, not a ton. 7H, 2ER in 4.1. So he's rested and Rice hasn't seen him. Probably weighing into it a bit, as they just played Rice this weekend.

You really almost have to win Game 1 to have a realistic chance at winning the tournament. Mission accomplished
We have to beat ECU at some point. Perhaps playing them with a fresh Lapouring of Tommy is about as good an opportunity as any to get that done. And if the Shocks do that their chances of winning the tournament become pretty real.
