Read last night where former Shocker great Carl Hall passed away. He fit the mold of great all around area athlete that fueled the glory days. Prayers to his family. RIP.

That is very sad. I was fortunate enough to meet and visit with Carl a couple of times in the last few years when he could make it out to a baseball game. Such a good guy and an incredible tragedy. All my prayers to his family and his memory.

Am I remembering correctly that Aaron Boone played with Carl either in summer ball or the minors and called him one of his best teammates?

Yes. I believe at a recent first pitch banquet. Speaks volumes.

I found where I saw it. Gene mentioned it when Carl was being inducted into the Wichita Sports HOF.

              Sad news indeed!

Hall was MVC player of the year in 1994 after batting .354 with seven triples and 42 stolen bases.

He was one of the guys that got me hooked on Shocker baseball as a kid. And why my favorite number is 26. Sad to hear.

I was fortunate to grow up just down the street from the Hall family. Missed playing with him at Campus by a couple years. All the stories of his genuine and caring attitude are completely true. Such a shitty loss for our community.

To piggyback on this post....what happened to recruiting locally? We used to have lots of top notch talent? Do we still?
