Thank goodness for Pan-Directional schools or Krusty would have a losing record. It sucks to have a ROADy coaching staff scuttling the ship.

This is a clear cut failure on behalf of ADES. As the head of his department, he should have seen the paradox with which faces HCGS. That paradox is Gene's loyalty to his coaching staff which prevents him from firing ACJT; even at the peril of Gene being fired. Gene is too close to the forest and can't see the rotten tree (JT).
ADES should have said, "Gene, I'm going to protect your legacy, help you get your record D1 wins and DEMAND the replacement of JT and replace him with someone that we can move into your position when YOU feel ready to retire based on enhanced success with OUR program." Someone needs to shake HCGS and wake him up to the futility of ACJT.

I disagree. He didn't make many mistakes, but this one is squarely on the shoulders of ADJS. He completely BLUNDERED the Oklahoma debacle. He chose to stay out of town, and then upon his return, welcomed Gene back with open arms.
He should have said, "A Wichita State man is going to coach Wichita State. Not an Oklahoman!"
Or something like that from Bo.
