I'm not trying to make excuses, and I fully admit I may be wrong in my assessment, but I believe this team, coaches and players alike, are the victims of their own expectations (both real and assumed), especially after the ECU series.
I'm not saying it's the only thing, or that they are immune from criticism, but this is not the self centered teams that Butler led.

When you start thinking you are actually good enough you don't have to work as hard, trouble follows.
Got a strong feeling that what this group started thinking after the ECU sweep.
And to that thought, they have basically been sticking up the field ever since.
The competition never rests (or let up) and once you do, they will pounce on you at every opportunity.
That is all.Above all, make the right call.

Shocks blow Game 2 open with 7 runs in the bottom of the 4th on 7 hits including a David Herring home run, a walk, a hit batter, 2 stolen bases plus a USF throwing error that allowed a run to score as the Shocks take a 10-0 lead.
The Shocks tack on an unearned run in the 5th to make 11-0.
A 2 out double and a single by USF's dynamic freshman due Snow and Betancourt plates a run for USF in the top of the 6th which Shocker freshman Jack Little promptly reclaimed with a home run to center in the bottom of the 6th.
The Shocks head into the 7th leading 12-1 with a chance close out the game.
Grant Adler, who is pitching on short rest, is back out for the 7th.
After going to full count and then giving up a lead off single to the USF lead off htter Grant's day is done. Nate Snead is on in relief.
Great job on short rest by Grant. I did not realize that Grant is leading the AAC in ERA.
Nate closes it out the the Shocks finish off their day of revenge with a 12-1 run rule win.Last edited by 1972Shocker; May 13, 2023, 09:13 PM.
