CU doesn't have the same talent, but they sure have a good approach to playing the game. Up 1-0 over Ill st. after 2.

#6 SIU vs #8 Creighton in the MVC Tournament baseball championship game. Now isn't that special. Boy you sure get a huge advantage by winning or finishing at the top of the conference during the regular season.

Why did they drop the pool play? I think it made more sense and allowed for the top teams to advance. Sure you could waste a game but again that favors the top teams.

This isn't sour grapes, WSU sucked and going 0-2 is on them. I speaking more about having 6 vs 8 in the championship game.

IMHO, there generally is not very much reward for winning or finishing near the top of the regular season race although that can vary quite a bit from sport to sport. Look at the MVC softball tournament. It's 8-team single elimination but the #1 and #2 seeds get double bye's into the semi-final round and #3 and #4 get first round byes. In effect #5 through #8 have a play-in round to start the tournament. Not sure I am wild about single elimination for baseball and softball but the difference in tournament structure is start. I would have no problem reducing he number of teams in the post-season tournaments based on regular season finishes.

But bottom line you are right the Shocks sucked and have no one to blame but themselves.

Honestly, as soon as we got knocked out, I was hoping for this...granted it lessens our slim chance at a regional...But seriously I can only handle being disappointed so many times in 1 year. I wasn't looking forward to going 0-2 in a regional.

I wonder what the average attendance has been so far, or what it will be at the championship game.

Did some looking...Lots of holes in the attendance numbers and I guess if it were up to MSU to keep track, I can understand why. In watching the games online there are very few fans at each game, even the MSU games. But our MSU buddy told us their fans would support the team. I guess if averaging less than 1000 fans is supporting the team, they did just that.

              Code:
              Game Teams Attend.
                    TUESDAY
              1 UE v ISUr ----
              2 CU v ISUb 303
              3 SIU v WSU ----
4 BU v MSU 1390 *MSU evening game

                   WEDNESDAY
              5 ISUb v UE ----
              6 MSU v WSU ----
              7 ISUr v CU ----
              8 BU v SIU 465

                   THRUSDAY
              9 ISUr v UE ----
              10 MSU v BU 708
              11 CU v ISUr ----
12 SIU v MSU 872 *MSU evening game
Most of the games missing probably had low attendance numbers in the 300 - 400 range, but using just the data we have above, which probably inflates the numbers quite a bit here's what we come up with:

              Average Attendance = 747
              Average Evening Attend. = 909
              MSU Avg Attendance = 990

Can't wait to see the numbers at ISU next year! I think my 3 year old son's t-ball games get more fans.

I might even be able to count that high although it is possible I would have to take my shoes and socks off.

Comparing that to 2009 and 2010 in Wichita.

                  2009
                  Total Attendance = 33,783
                  Average Attend. = 3,378
                  WSU Avg Attend = 4,203

                  2010
                  Total Attendance = 41,427
                  Average Attend. = 3,187
                  WSU Avg Attend = 3,963

And was it 2010 when the WSU games were starting at 10p some nights?

Yep. I remember those quite well. The rain really messed up the schedule and I seem to remember the game against Evansville started well after 10, like closer to 11. It didn't end til well after 1 either. The attendance was absolutely unbelievable for that late of night.

And then you look at Springfield, and 60 people in the stands for a games involving MSU.

Way ta go Valley! Keep it up!

Can't wait to see what it looks like on tv tomorrow!

Agreed. Having teams with losing conference records in the title game really shows the power of our conference. Totally embarrassing. Really quite pathetic.

Those numbers include the free tickets they gave away (or couldn't give away as it were) yes?

I thought so....I don't want ANYONE including Missouri State in ANY discussions of trying to keep up with the Jones'. Bunch of hillbilly crap still hoping Jackie Stiles will find a 5th year of eligibility and holding out hope Greg Louganis will take over their vaunted Swimming and Diving program.

I remember standing in the outfield when WSU beat EU? at 1:40 in the morning with a double play good times. A good crowd at 1:40 still there.
First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.
