Missed the start of Sunday game. Noticed that Johnnie is not playing. Is he hurt - problems with hamstring injury?

Gene more or less implied in his pre-game show that since the Shocks lost the first 2-games of this series that this game was just not worth playing Johnny today and take a chance on aggravating his hamstring pull. At this point the Shocks will be working on getting everyone as healthy, rested and as sharp as they can be for the MVC Tournament.

OT as to Coy (pardon me), although apropos as to injuries: is Bayliff just never going to recover this year?
I thought I remembered his being questionable, or day-to-day, a couple of weeks ago. Did I miss something (which is not at all unlikely, considering the amount of attention I've been able to give Shocker baseball this year)?

He has been out a long time already, and getting healed and back in game shape isn't likely anyway.
That is how I think I heard the discusison.
It has been a really tough career for Bayliff so far. His mangled ankle was perhaps the most gruesome sports injuries I have ever witnessed in person, akin the Lawrence Taylor's breaking of Joe Theismann's leg. It was more than obvious when it happened that it was very serious. There a lot of little bones and connective tissue in the ankle, and a displaced fracture of the ankle has to be hard to repair and even harder to rehabilitate.

I think it's a pretty cool honor for Johnny. Who knows if he deserved it. If he just has a slight improvement over last year he will be close statistically with the actual 1st and 2nd team all-americans from last year. Last year 1st Team AA- Chris Serritella .389 avg, 56 runs scored, 13 HR, 61 RBI, 34 BB, 51K 2nd Team AA- DJ Hicks: .316 AVG, 52 Runs Scored, 14 HR, 56 BB, 52K, Johnny Coy last year: .344 AVG, 43 Runs Scored, 9 HR, 63 RBI, 30 BB, and 52K. A big stat for him last year is that his 63 RBI was almost 30 more than anyone else on the team.I just think a lot of college baseball fans forget how much the new BBCOR bats have taken away from the offensive stats of ever player in college baseball.

I'm pulling for him to live up to the preseason accolades. Hopefully, the Shocks can put enough offensive threats around Johnny in the lineup so that he will get some decent pitches to hit.
I was somewhat surprised he went undrafted last year. He doesn't have much draft leverage as a Senior this year but a huge year could mitigate that.

I was thinking Conor Gillaspie had been a First Team All-American but he was 2nd Team AA (Baseball America 2008).
