He's not going to win, but it'd be nice to give him a few votes. The DH spot vote is David Ortiz' or Michael Young's race to lose.

There was a column in the Hutch News today promoting Dirks for the all-star game.

He is batting in the three hole now for the tigers. Impressive!

Andy is back with the Tigers after his injury. He had a good night with a couple hits.

He continues to play well. He was 1-4 with a run and a double last night.

Since he was re-activated, he's batting .366, with five doubles, one home run, and 7 RPB. He's 15-41.

Andy is having a GOOD year

Dirks is having an EXCELLENT year, and is substantially outhitting the much more well-known and highly paid Delmon Young (and even outslugging him, although Young hits more HRs). With his strong performance so far this year, Dirks has improved his career major league averages to the point where he's now hitting better in the bigs than he did in the minors -- a nice touch. Andy may well be building some job security for himself.
