Great job by LaBrie to get out of that mess.

Has Mormann cemented his position at the bottom of the staff yet? The guy simply can't control his stuff.

Mormann needs to be designated to midweek relief duties.

Here's the team I know and love playing today. Being shut out and two hit so far.

Maybe this post will act as a reverse jinx....

This sounds about right. Too bad, he sounds a lot like Flynn his sophomore season- capable of being extremely effective UNTIL HE JUST TOTALLY SELF DESTRUCTS inevitably during a middle inning.

Hit a lot of balls right at people today. Just one of those days.

Mormann just not getting it done. Brent has said he thinks it is mental. Shane has said he thinks it's mechancial. Could be both.

Ladwig with another good appearnace today. Minnis with a couple of good innings.

Right now we only seem to have two starters we can somewhat consistently count on. That doesn't really bode well for the MVC Tournament or for a regional if we somehow managed to win the MVC Tournament. An at-large bid seems kind of a long-shot at this point. A hot-stretch to finish the season I suppose is still not out of the realm of possibility, however this team just has not shown it can sustain good play for an extended stretch of games.

Tough loss. I think I agree with those that Mormann should probably be moved to a relief role. He seems to have trouble once they get to the second time through the order. Minnis and Ladwig pitched well today. DBU is a very good hitting team and holding them to 4 runs (3 earned runs) is an accomplishment. I was disappointed we didn't continue to score runs like we did on Friday and Saturday but it did seem like we hit the ball today it was just at their guys.

A glimmer of hope remains. Going 9-3 is still possible. But there will be a lot of pressure on every game since every game is almost a must win.

That is what it seemed like to me. I don't remember a single strike out. I am sure there was one or two but it couldn't have been more than that. Compared to early in the season that is a HUGE improvement.

Mormonn's ball just doesn't move much. He has good velocity but his pitches aren't fooling anyone. He got a bad break with the EH error but then he just walked too many guys. I would like to see him as a middle relief guy.

I think the only SO that I can remember was Coy and it was a big one; early in the game, 2 guys on (I think).

Not a bad weekend though... hopefully they just keep winning and then we'll see how it plays out.

I just checked the box score. WSU only had one strike out today. That is definitely a huge improvement.

Well, looks like the typical no offense game was due and it happened.

If you think this team has the consistency of an at-large caliber team, you're nuts. It's not in the cards. No way. No how.

Ah, when people are calling for champagne toasts because WSU didn't strike out a lot today. That's when you know you're bad.

Looks like no posting rampages today. How funny. Where's shockfan89 at today? .... Figures.

I wasn't surprised we lost today. Sweeping this team would be very hard to do. They are a tournament caliber team. They have only been swept once all year and that was 3 close games back in February at #8 Rice. The thing that surprised me the most was the low scoring.

After winning 8-7 yesterday, I was expecting a score more like 12-11 today and was just hoping we could end up on top.

I did think we competed fairly well at the plate. The lack of hits is disappointing but putting the ball in play is good. You can't score any runs if you strike out. At least by putting the ball in play you have a chance to make something good happen.

I do want to add that Dayne Parker continues to make some really outstanding defensive plays and our pitching overall was very good again.
