  • Shox vs. DBU Game 3

Shox face DBU one more time. Mitch Mormann will get the start. Brent says Minnis, Boughman, Vielock and LaBrie are in the mix for tomorrow. Brent says he won't use Elam, but that Elam will probably want to be in the mix. Warren Nolan now has the WSU rpi at #49 and DBU at #39.

Boughman spelled Bouman. I like his stuff. I was starting to wonder if something was wrong with Albert guess not. I don't think Tobin is in the mix he told me he is starting Tuesday against K-State. I like A J he has good stuff just needs an out pitch.

Albert was sick on Tuesday that is why he didn't make the bus ride to Manhattan.

I expect DBU to reach double figures in the scoring column.

If the Shockers keep competing at the plate the way they have the first two games, we may be in double figures in the scoring column.

I wouldn't mind it. I just think since we have overachieved at the plate in the last two games, we're due for our characteristic 2-run game and that DBU is due for a rear raping, especially if it's Mormann tomorrow. Of course, I wouldn't mind being wrong either.

Mitch has had trouble with control. Hope he stays away from WALKS. They make me wiggly.

A win today would certainly be huge for the Shocks. No matter how they finish this season I still think its time for Gene to be moving on. If this team really has some talent then hopefully we could find someone that won't beat these kids into the ground, which is what Gene does best. There is no doubt Gene has done amazing things for Shocker Baseball and Wichita State, but it really is time for some new blood. Think what these guys might be able to do with someone like Kevin Hooper at the helm. Someone that inspires his players and creates a great atmosphere rather than creating resentment and negative attitudes throughout. Just my two cents....

I just wish ADES would go to Gene and say your only chance of an extension is if you hire a young assistant that will take over this program when you leave. Whether that is 2 years or 5 years. To me the biggest concern is there is nobody to take this program over. Brent doesn't want it and I don't even know if he is capable, and even if he is, how much longer will he coach? EDIT: I actually just read the article by Lutz. I guess for once we agree on something...

DBU takes the lead on a throwing error by Harbutz that comes around to score. After 2 1/2 DBU 1 WSU 0.

Mormann struggling the 2nd time through the order. Lead off walk on 4 pitches, stolen base, sac fly, single and walk. Runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out and 1 run home. 2-0 DBU. EDIT: Mormann started 2-0 on the 5th batter of the inning and WSU is going to the bullpen.

Top of the 4th 1out and 2 runners on
                        DBU 2 3 0
                        WSU 0 2 1

Aaron gets a pair of clutch strike outs to escape Mitch's mess. Great job.

Still 2-0 DBU to the bottom of the 4th.
