Shox vs. DBU Patriots, Game 1

The Shox face the team that the Valley let slip away this weekend. The DBU Patriots are another very good baseball team.

According to Warren Nolan, DBU has a rpi of #34, the Shox are at #64. Going into this weekend the Shox are 3-5 against the rpi top 50 (WSU is 8-8 against the rpi top 59).

This is another golden opportunity to play 3 more games against a top 50 team (we get 3 more next weekend against #45 Indy State).

Going 2-1 sure would help expand that little glimmer of hope.

I used to hope we would go to Omaha every year.Now all we have is a glimmer of hope to make the tourney for the first time since 2009.

Before the MoST series I was cautiously optimistic about our chances of making the ncaa tourney. After we went 1-2, I downgraded to a glimmer of hope. That glimmer might get a little brighter if WSU can take 2 games from a team as good as DBU.

According to Boyds World WSU needs to go 12-3 in their remaining games to finish with a rpi of 45 and have a good chance of getting an at large bid. It is a very long shot for the Shox to go 12-3, but there is a glimmer of hope.

DBU on their way up to Wichita stopped in Norman, OK last night and beat #69 rpi Ou 8-2.

Harbutz and Parker started off with some FANTASTIC at-bats. That's what I like to hear, guys fouling off pitches staying alive instead of watching the ball into the glove with their bat on their shoulders.

I think that score should be reversed. Shouldn't DBU be up 9 to 1? If we are really winning, then my gosh, who kidnapped the old Shockers? That is the kind of numbers this team should be putting up every game.
