Will Dirks make the Tigers opening day roster? Down to the wire

Well he's obviously the best candidate to make the cut, but the whole minor league option on his contract, and Thomas who doesn't could be a deciding factor, if they don't plan on either one getting much playing time on the mlb roster. If they feel they can get value out of Thomas, they may bump him up so they don't have to release him. But who knows. Sometimes the whole contract option world hurts my head. GM's are some very smart guys having to deal with all of that.

I saw an ESPN projected starting lineup with Dirks in it. So at least they thought so.

According to the Tigers site, Dirks is on the roster, and will start at DH against Josh Beckett in game 2
