    Anyone paying attention?

Some interesting results so far, and there is no pitching in D1 apparently.

Pinball scoreboards all around the country.

Say a prayer for Columbia if you are so inclined. The Ivy League champs upset Gonzaga 8-2 on Friday. Then against host and #4 Va Tech, the Lions led the Hokies into the 4th 2-1. Then all hell broke loose and Virginia Tech put up a 14 spot in the 4th and added to it in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th before finally winning 24-4. Columbia managed to eliminate Gonzaga today 15-6 but now has to face a rested Va Tech again, and I promise you the Lions are out of pitching (what little they had to start with). The Hokies probably can name the score later today.

Host Oklahoma State had an interesting game last night in the winner's bracket final. After beating Missouri State 10-5 on Friday, they led Arkansas 10-5 in the top of the 7th. The Hogs scored 3 to make it 10-8. In the top of the 8th the Hogs batted around like this:

    Single
    HBP
    HBP
Former Shocker Brady Slavens strikes out
    (Pitching change)
Former Shocker Paxton Wallace's younger brother Caden Wallace walks (RBI)
    Walk (RBI)
    HBP (RBI)
    Walk (RBI)
    (Pitching change)
    Grand Slam

    16-10 and a snowman on 2 hits.

    20-12 final.

Today it's 22-15 OSU over Missouri State in the 9th. Missouri State has blown a TWELVE nothing lead.

ECU is 2-0. Texas State is 2-0. Oklahoma is 2-0 (beat Liberty 16-3 and Florida 9-4). A&M is 2-0 (beat ORU 8-2 then came back from 6-4 down after 6 to beat Louisiana 9-6. La Tech let Texas get away late and then was eliminated today.

    Other Little League scores:

    Friday:

    Campbell 15 Georgia Tech 8
    ECU 17 Coppin State 1
    North Carolina 15 Hofstra 4
    Stanford 20 Binghamton 7

Kennesaw State had LSU beat, 11-4 bottom 8 before surrendering 10 to the Tigers. 14-11 Final.

    That's just a sampling.

OSU now leads Missouri State 26 -15.

OSU in another wild game with Arkansas.

Leading 7-5 the Pokes gave up 3 in the bottom of the 8th and trailed 7-8 going to the 9th.

OSU scored 3 though to take a 10-8 lead going to the bottom of the 9th.

With 2 outs, former Shocker Brady Slavens drives in 2 with a single and it's tied at 10. On to extras.

Va Tech 7 Columbia 3. Hokies advance.

Notre Dame 2 Texas Tech 1. Irish advance.

Texas 10 Air Force 1. Longhorns advance.

Tennessee scored 6 in the 9th to take the lead, then Georgia Tech left the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th and lost 9-6. Vols advance.

Top 10, OSU gets a double, a single and a stolen base, 2nd & 3rd no out. K. 1 out. Then with 2 strikes the Arkansas pitcher throws a DYNAMITE slider low and away and somehow the OSU batter manages to squib it off the end of the bat (no idea how he made contact) then it glanced off the pitcher's foot and over the 2nd baseman who was in trying to cut the run off. 2 runs score. 12-10 Cowpokes.

After giving up 5 in the top of the 7th, TCU gets four of their own in the bottom of the frame and it's 7-7 going to the 8th with the Aggies.

McLean homers for O-State and it's 14-10 still in the top of the 10th. Plenty of baseball remaining in Stillwater.

I'll bet a large some of money that no team has ever scored 65 runs in a 4 team regional and NOT yet won the regional.

I'd feel somewhat comfortable that no team has ever scored 65 runs in a 4 team regional, period. Maybe any regional, regardless of size.

lol at Missouri State spotting themselves a 12-0 lead only to get outscored 29-3 the rest of the way. We’re not even that bad.

                  ... No really, deuces.

Normally, you might call this a crazy game. Not sure it qualifies this year.

BTW, the Shocks beat A&M in Frisco early int he the season 6-5, after wins over Iowa (6-4) and Washington State (8-2). Perhaps the high point of the season.

All of this makes me even more p!ssed that the Shox offense was fairly abysmal this season. Jeez...

Our pitching/defense wasn't anything to write home about either.

For the season we did average 5.8 runs per game, but gave up 6.5.
Our wins we averaged 8.9 runs and gave up 3.9
Our loses we averaged 3.9 and have up 7.9
Scored double digits 9 times, gave up double digits 10 times.

For reference ECU scored 6.4 but only gave up 4.5.

What is weird is that we have beaten three teams that have a chance to get to the supers-OU, ECU and A&M. Not sure when the last time that has happened if it does.

Does that mean we are not far away from being decent, baseball is wildly unpredictable, our hitters relax more if we get any semblence of pitching, or all of the above?

It tells me it is all about consistency. Being able to consistently perform no matter who you are playing. Losing 2 out of 3 to teams like New Mexico, getting swept by Cincy, losing both games to K-State, etc cannot happen.

ECU advances with a 13-4 drubbing of Coastal Carolina.

Louisville scored 7 in the first but Michigan scored the next 9 runs to take a 9-7 lead into the bottom of the 8th. Louisville scored 4 in the bottom of the 8th to pull out a n 11-9 wind and advance to the CWS.
