  • Shocks at K-State

Jace Miner ran into trouble in the bottom of the 3rd. Walking 2 batters but had a chance to get out the inning but gave up back-to-back 2 outs doubles as K-State takes a 3-0 lead.

The Shocks have done nothing going 9-up and 9-down in their first 3 at bats while striking out 5 times. German Fajardo, who beat the Shocks in Wichita is pretty much dominating the Shocker hitters so far.

Once again we have the bad luck of facing another midweek Nolan Ryan.
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

The Shocks are hitless through 5 innings and have struck out 8 times. Fajardo has good stuff.

Couper Cornblum breaks up the no-hitter with a 1-out single to left center in the 6th.

Jace Miner has not been terrible. Pitched a career high 5.2 innings. After a 2-out walk LJ McDonough comes on in relief.

McDonough and Ketelsen combined to walk the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th but escaped unscathed.

The Shocks gave themselves a chance in the 8th. A Payton Tolle double, Cornblum single and a Chuck Ingram double scored a run for the Shocks and gave them runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs. But Brock Rodden lined out to 1st and Sawyre Thornhill griunded out to 2nd to end the threat.

The Shockers threatened again in the 9th. Jordan Roger's and Garrett Kocis had back-to-back singles leading off the inninnig. Andrew Stewart struckout. A ground ball out to short by Tolle moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd. Ross Cadena grounded out to 3rd to end the game.

        KSU 3 - Shocks 1

The Shocks ended up outfitting KSU by 6-5 but could not come up with the clutch hits in the 8th and 9th.

        I guess 3-1 is better than 12-1.
