Shocker offense extends their scoreless string to 15 consecutive innings.

Can't really blame this one on the pitchers. Cameron wasn't at his best but only giving up 2 runs on 4 hits (although he did walk 5) in 7 innings is a start you would take anytime.

BREAKING: Wichita State baseball has petitioned the NCAA to allow their batters to hit off a tee for the remainder of the season. This in hope to increase their odds of getting a hit.

So maybe instead of people complaining about the pitching coach - maybe the real problem is the hitting coach.

You donā€™t think thereā€™s a problem with the pitching? Please.

All facets of the game are real problems. Again, thereā€™s still a lot of Butler in the lineup. I presume thatā€™s still part of the problem. The pitching coach has been here 4 years now and they have yet to improve in any area there.

So donā€™t excuse the pitching. This is an everything problem.

Not sure about the coach, but hitting is definitely THE problem right now.

The pitching staff's depth chart is too short, but there is darn good pitching going on as well. Hitting is just super weak right now.

Iā€™m afraid improvement is going to rest on continued recruiting.

The pitching has not been great, but in AAC play the hitting has been a bigger issue I believe. After 9 AAC games here are how the teams stack up pitching and hitting wise:

OPS and Average Runs Per Game
Team W-L OPS Rank ARPG Rank ERA Rank ARGU Rank
                    ECU 7-2 .891 1 7.89 T-1 3.83 1 4.67 1
                    TLN 6-3 .862 2 7.89 T-1 5.24 5 5.78 5
                    CIN 6-3 .844 3 7.44 3 4.61 4 5.22 3
                    UCF 5-4 .834 4 6.00 4 4.03 2 5.67 4
                    HOU 5-4 .808 5 5.44 5 6.03 6 6.56 7
                    MEM 3-6 .763 6 4.44 6 7.85 8 7.67 8
                    USF 2-7 .657 8 4.00 7 6.08 7 6.22 6
                    WSU 2-7 .673 7 3.67 8 4.48 3 5.00 2
                    OPS = On Base % + Slugging %
ARPG = Average Runs Scored Per Game
                    ERA - Earned Run Average
ARGU = Average Runs Given Up Per Game

As you can see, at least so far (9 games into the 24 game AAC schedule), the Shocks are 7th in OPS and 8th in runs scored. Shocker pitching is 3 in ERA and the Shocks give up the 2nd fewest runs in the AAC.

As you say our pitching depth is the issue that shows up primarily in mid-week games. The weekend pitching by AAC standards this year has been above average.
