It's not like we were playing the Little Sisters of the Poor. Okie State ranked #6 according to the Shockers schedule.

The Shocks actually hung in there against the Pokes but right now the Shocks have a Swiss cheese lineup. Just too many holes. With our pitching 3 runs a game won't win a lot of games and that's what the Shocks have scored in the last 3 games, all losses.

Yep. The result is not super frustrating. But how it happened, combined with Sunday's loss at Houston - super frustrating. That is how this whole season has been. One step forward two step back.

Lol, part 2 happened and nobody cared - this was OSU!

Even in the Butler era there were still people paying attention.

btw, wsu got smoked 8-5. Only a Stroh grand slam in the 9th made it respectable.

Thought I'd move this over as it belongs here in the 1st place.

Okie State has a really shiny new toy in O'Bate Stadium. With a little forward thinking, we could make the Eck as nice. But yeah, nobody is coming right now so it seems kind of silly to talk about (like me discussing post season).

There were some good things to take away from the game tonight. Seth Stroh shows signs of breaking out. Great throw from right to save a run. Somewhat meaningless GS in the 9th, but not at all meaningless to him.

Robert Cranz was excellent. He was 'up' a bit too much, but velo was good and movement was plus good. The freshman has some upside. Will Stevens showed signs of his talent. He was missing up, up up but didn't pitch poorly. He can build on that.

Favors was better. Miner wasn't bad. Should have got out of the 1st with no damage to be honest. Shaver and Hansen were not good. Ketelsen and Jones were ok.

                  Gage Williams continues to impress.

I realize OSU is a top 10 team and will probably host. Should have beat them last week. I honestly believe tonight's game had a different meaning for our guys. It seems increasingly clear there is a shift towards the younger guys and they've been challenged. But man we've just got to be better at the plate. Somehow, someway.

After watching again, I wanted to recap the pitching. Miner wasn't bad. He was nervous, and that won't work, but he didn't pitch poorly. Because of his arm angle and lower velo, he's trying to bust left handed hitters inside and he doesn't have that skill down yet. Even hitting the first 2, he should have gotten out of the inning with good D. We missed 2 chances at double plays. Neither easy, but good teams make at least one of them and they don't score.

Cranz was excellent. Only made 2 pitches, imo, that weren't great pitches, and one of those ended the evening for him on a K. His fastball was mid 90s with movement. I can'

Favors was really good. That works every time.

Jones and Ketelsen were both a bit high but mostly effective. Both have their own limitations but again, that execution works for them.

Those 5 surrendered a total of 1 hit. Each went one full inning. Derek Shaver came on in the 6th and struggled. He left his breaking ball up and didn't seem to have good velocity. OSU touched him for 4 hits, all legit, including a 500 foot bomb from their seemingly 'roid riddled grad transfer with an awful blond mohawk. And honestly, the pitch wasn't terrible. He went down and got it and managed to still pull it and got it into the jet stream and it may still have not landed.

Will Stevens relieved him after Derek could only get one out. As I mentioned earlier, last night seemed to have purpose within the team. Will threw a lot of breaking stuff and he was pretty good. Not great and he left too many pitches up, but you can see the talent oozing. If he could just manage to get on top of the ball and bring it down a bit, he's immediately the most talented arm on the team. Man could we use him....... Will went an inning and two thirds and was tagged for 1 run. The kind of run that has absolutely plagued this team all year. He walks the leadoff guy who then moves to 2nd on a ground out. Stevens allows him to take 3rd on a wild pitch then gets a K, 2 out. X can't handle a ground ball that would end the inning and the run scores. They gave him a hit, but it was an error. That outing probably isn't going to get him a start, but it IS a start, and a good one.

Creighton Hansen got the 8th and really wasn't sharp. He didn't seem to have the attitude of most of the rest of the staff and OSU took him deep on a hanging curve I would have crushed. Those 2 runs he gave up kept the 9th from being really interesting.

                  Still just can't hit enough.
