Take a look at our projected finish as of right now:
    https://www.warrennolan.com/baseball...=Wichita-State

Yuck. That might be one of the worst seasons in the modern era of Shocker baseball.

EDIT: The predicted results seem to jump around live. When I looked around 9 CST, Shox were predicted 16-39

And although it's very early, the only teams with a lower RPI than WSU left on the schedule besides the real cupcake series at home is Missouri State, UH, and Memphis. If you look at projected metrics, the only team worse than the Shox are MSU.

I just think we're inexperienced at the pitching position:

        Our pitchers yesterday
        ---
        Kaminska (5.1) - sophomore
        Bye (1.1) - sophomore
        Favors (1.0) - sophomore
        Jones (0.1) - grad student

        Their pitchers yesterday
        ---
        Miller (5.2) - junior
        Westbrook (2.1) - freshman
        Nelson (1.0) - senior

Love the optimism Kung Wu...but the offense has also been atrocious. Only averaging 3.1 runs per game and hitting .210 aint gonna cut it. Pitchers with an ERA over 7 and an unsightly 1.75 whip

That was yesterday (literally and metaphorically). TODAY is the day! :)

The pitching appears to be the same as last year at this point. Which shouldn’t be unexpected given all of the turnover. The true disappointment has been the hitting. Kocis, Sigrist, Cadena are nowhere to be found. College baseball is a high-scoring game and we aren’t scoring runs.

How many times have we struck out in 6 games?

                  ... No really, deuces.

0-6 is truly an unbelievable mark and I’m afraid to say Butler never even reached this level.

Truly disappointing in every aspect. Sure doesn’t give you any reason to head out to the ballpark when the weather warms.

RPI isn't the thing we should be looking at right now. Is it? RPI is based off of who you beat, and who your opponents beat.

Don't you think a lot of that has to do with the difficulty that Shocker fans would understandably have in criticizing a Shocker legend and Hall of Famer. Remind me again of how many National Championships Wichita State owns. It's an uncomfortable situation to be in. But if the malaise in the program continues I thing you will hear some criticism although it will be more muted than what it would normally be.

I was a little bit surprised that HCEW's comments on his first radio show didn't raise more eyebrows. Most comments were about what a tough, no nonsense guy he is. But the message that was a little surprising to me was that, if I heard correctly, HCEW didn't care how many games they won in the pre-conference schedule he just wants to see what he has to work with and who will bring the right attitude and approach to the game or something to that effect. I could have misheard or misinterprered what he was saying or maybe missed some of the context. But was HCEW trying to send a message to lower our expectations as least for this year?

Only 67. Averaging 11.2 per game. Lol

You (72) are a big women's supporter, but I never hear you criticize Adams for losing basketball, and we have been at the bottom of the AAC for years now. Last year was a big improvement in the AAC (baseball), and we will see if we sink back to the bottom this year (yet to be determined) when our league games begin.
