I think you were either emotional when you said this or your memory isn’t good. Stumpy isn’t always good, but his career resume out of the pen has been quite good over his years. The last two years, he’s been consistently good.

However, yesterday was a big fail.

He has a career WHIP of 1.5, and last year was 1.38. His K/BB is 1.04 - these are stats that tell you he is not RP you want to put into the fire because he will give up Inherited Runners plus his own.

He started the inning yesterday so He wasn’t put into the fire with runners on base. He’s had success in that role in the past. As I said, he’s not perfect, but he’s had success as his wins and two year ERA show. Stuempfig should have been good enough to get through an inning or two. Last year, he probably was in the top 2 or 3 (probably after McDonough) out of the pen.

Yesterday, he didn’t get anyone out, and the pitcher (who has always had a problem walking people) who followed didn’t get anyone out either.

At least we can bat. Seems like a few years ago I remember you guys cryin' about how we couldn't even bat.

Maybe the young pitchers will just take a few games to get used to D1 ball?

After imploding in game 2, I guess the bullpen provided the silver lining today giving up just 1 unearned run in 6 innings to at least give the offense a chance to pull it out.

The Shocks had a golden opportunity in the 8th to at least get it tied but did not cash in.

Not a great start to the season. Only 3 games in but the Shocks didn't give us much to hang our hats on either pitching-wise or hitting-wise.

The Shocks struck out 39 times over the 3 games. Way too much. If the Shocks had a bunch of sluggers maybe you could get away with that but after 3 games the Shocks slugging percentage is at an anemic 0.286 as a team.

The Shocker team ERA was 7.12 in this series and averaged 6.7 free passes (BB & HBP) per game.

Clearly there is work to be done.
