  • Shocks vs UTA - Game 2

Shocks off to a very good start in Game 2 doing it Doggy style.

Taylor Doggett inserted into the leadoff spot playing left field. He led off the 1st with an infield single, stole second and scored on Johnny Coy's RBI single.

In the second a single (Hege), double (Parker) and walk (Coughenour) loaded the bases with 1 out for Kevin Hall who delivered a 2-run single.

After a double-steal Taylor Doggett delivered another 2-run single to put the Shocks up 5-0.

Good start for Fresham A.J. Ladwig. 3 scoreless innings with no walks. 2 singles allowed but has only faced one over the minimum thanks to a nice DP turned by Parker and Coughenour in the 3rd.

Hope we continue to pitch well. The guy on the mound for them with the 21.00 ERA seems to have our number.

Ladwig would appear to "get" how to pitch. Another Omaha guy, BTW.

          Defense solid so far, too.

AJ know has 5 scoreless innings in the bag. Still has only given up 2 hits with no walks. Faced only 16 batters.

Tyler Coughenour with a nice diving stop on a grounder up the middle for the 1st out in the 5th.

Taylor Doggett with a nice running catch in left for the final out of the UTA 5th.

If not mentioned previously, UTA Maverick Phillip Incaviglia......that would be Pete's nephew. Carry on.

Also, not the worst UTA team (or anyone else) at 9-3 entering this 2 game set with the Shocks AND a 7-5 win against the Longhorns in Austin.

UTA pitched around Johnny in the 5th successfully.

If they won't let Johnny Coy bat every inning, at least once, then our pitching is going to have to be beyond nails. A.J. Ladwig is doing his part today with 5 innings and 2 hits.

A.J. in a little pickle with runners on 1st and 2nd and 1 out in the top of the 6th. Brent going out to check on him.

AJ shows a lot of composure getting out of the jamb after a visit from Brent with no damage.

                          After 6 complete 5-0.

A.J. induces a foul pop to Johnny to close out the 6th.

Kyle Bouman on in relief of A.J. in the 7th. Outstanding effort by A.J. Very promising.

Kyle Bouman's 1st career pitch leaves the yard. Let's see how he reacts. Probably will not have a real long leash.
