Glad to see South Carolina go down as they were gifted a host as a 2 seed. Eff that.

Nabob even you might have enjoyed watching the game (2-1); great baseball being played in Columbia. Excellent pitching and fielding with no football scores as witnessed in other regional matchups.

Anyone know why ODU (#1 Seed) had to travel to Columbia (#2 Seed South Carolina home park) instead of hosting the NCAA Regional in Norfolk? Maybe there was a good reason but it does seem shady, and possibly extremely unfair (knowing how the NCAA often operates).

Under current NCAA regional hosting guidelines, the Monarchs’ home park — Bud Metheny Baseball Complex — isn’t technically eligible to host given its lack of a handful of behind-the-scenes necessities like vast media seating or an advanced television camera setup.

13 of the 16 National Seeds are 2-0.

Only #15 Florida (eliminated 0-2), #16 La Tech (lost to NC State) and #6 TCU (lost to Dallas Baptist) have lost.

Both AAC schools, ECU and USF, are 2-0 and in excellent shape to advance. Our conference was much better than the across the board RPI at the end of the season. A ton of youth throughout the lineups for various teams (not necessarily WSU) made the non con struggles more pronounced, then that was exacerbated by the poor choice to only play conference games once they started.

This conference will be #3, #4, or #5 next season with at least 3 bids.

jdmee post #36 provides useful information; no need to read Nabob's post as it contains no useful information.

Why wasn’t Harbor Park used? That’s a Minor League Park in Norfolk and highly regarded too. Was that investigated? Perhaps the professional team was playing, but if not, it does lend credence to criticism by Fever that SEC runs everything. That’s sad if true.

Probably because it doesn't have a dirt infield among other major differences between a baseball park layout and a softball diamond layout.

Sorry I was thinking we were on the softball tournament thread. Yeah, that's a nice ball park.

Maryland eliminates Charlotte 2-1. Maryland will have to beat ECU twice to advance to the super-regionals.

South Alabama eliminated Miami 7-2. USA will have to beat USF twice to advance to the super-regionals.

Fairfield eliminates Arizona State 9-7. Will need to beat Texas twice in Austin.

Fairfield over Arizona State not something you ever heard back in the days of Bobby Winkles, Reggie Jackson and Sal Bando. Love hearing it and seeing it these days.
