There might be another thread, but 9I didn't see it....listened to it last night...what a GREAT sounding coach...what a blessing to have him here. I met him once, right before the pandemic, in line at Bricktown , said hello and was excited for the future...could not have been nicer...WSU did this right.

Tuned in a few minutes late. Sounds like Loren Hibbs is handling the show tonight.
It sounds like Loren was pointing out how inexperienced HCEW, PCMP and ACMS were in terms of coaching at the college level. It's a learning process for all of them.
Talking about the current losing streak. HIbbs says it's a team game and everyone has to do better. The goal now is to focus on being the best they can be by AAC Tournament.
So far mostly just coach speak with Mike shepherding the conversation in his usual manner..
Did not want to come in and just cut everyone when they came in and to blend those along with their recruits.
Said that Eric has discovered that managing distractions at this level is a lot different and tougher than managing distractions in the majors.
Nothing good can happen to a hitter if the bat is always under the ball. The have all the new fancy tools and analytics but the bottom line is you have to be able to get your body and the bat positioned to cut the ball in half.
Talked about the difficulty of recruiting with 11.7 scholarships and those renewals have to be determined by July 1st. But the draft is not until 3 weeks later. Eric is out to talking with one his highest rated pitching recruits.
Loren says that Wichita State is still a name the recruits somewhat respect but today there are so many more schools these days putting emphasis on baseball than there used to be so recruiting is definitely tougher.
Loren said that the best he has ever seen at home visits was Gene. But those are also very helpful in evaluating a recruit. They lost the ability to do those for a couple of years with Covid.
Said they could have run Payton Tolle out last week but held him back out of an abundance of caution. Plus had him on a limited pitch count yesterday.
All-in-all Scooter did a nice job. Of course, he has more experience at this than anyone else on the staff. You're just not going to get much out of these productions especially when the team is playing poorly. What are they going to say?Last edited by 1972Shocker; April 25, 2022, 08:01 PM.
