Hair OPS is .762. It is fun tracking Shockers in MLB. It’s been a while. Dorks and Gillespie?

Brian Flynn got a cup of coffee. Not sure about his current status at the moment though. I have some ties with the program at Neosho County CC. Coach Murry has a hell of a program and has 3 former players currently doing well in the show. Matt Strahm who I believe is with the padres, David Bote with the Cubs, and Andy Young with the diamondbacks. They’re not Shockers, but it’s cool seeing what locally developed talent is doing on the big stage!

Strahm is with the Pads. Was a decent starter last year and is coming out of the pen this year. Usually one of the first options out of the pen. Didn't realize he went to Neosho.

Bohm has his first home run, a 446' bomb to center field that lands in a fountain/pond kind of thing. Watch this full video, Freddie Freeman from the Braves gives him great props: https://www.espn.com/mlb/team/_/name...lphia-phillies

He goes 3-3 and is now batting .343 with OPS of .993

His long arms and natural swing are the makings of a great hitter who can hit with power, not strike out a lot, and who can be a consistent hitter.

If you look for a hitter who is similar, I came up with Dave Winfield. Winfield was 6'6 and 220. He was an RBI leader, who could hit with power. His lifetime BA was 283 hit 465 homers, and was very consistent. He also did not strike out a lot. His advantage is that he started a couple of years earlier than Alec, and he played for 20 years with only a couple marred by injuries. However, he is a player similar to Bohm and someone for Alec to emulate.

They compare Alec to Mike Schmidt (some because Schmidt was a Phillie too), but Schmidt was much more of a true power hitter who swung more for the fences and while he was more consistent than power hitters like Frank Howard, etc., with a BA of 267, Schmidt was consistently hitting 40 home runs or more (his career was several years shorter than Winfield and he hit approximately 100 homers more).. I'm not sure Alec will be a 40+ home run hitter consistently. He is much more like Winfield imo.

But a great start for Alec.

I would say Bohm is going over well in Philly.

Not bad after a dozen big league appearances.
