    Incoming JUCOs

    Checking in on our 5 JUCO commits who got some games in this season.

    Andrew Stewart, Barton, INF
    Stewart had a great season going, batting .352 in 88 ABs (22 games) with 3 HR, 11 2B and 28 RBI. Not so great on the defensive side, though, as he made 6 errors and finished with an .885 fielding pct (.938 for his career)

    Braedyn McLaughlin, Iowa Western, RHP
    Picking up where he left off, McLaughlin went 2-1 in 5 appearances striking out 21 batters in 14.1 innings. For his career at IWCC, he registered more than 14 Ks/9 innings with a 2.61 ERA

    L.J. McDonough, Hutchinson CC, RHP
    McDonough made 5 appearances for the Blue Dragons. They were all eventful, as he walked 14 and struck out 19 in 7.2 innings work. He only allowed 3 hits (never more than 1 in any appearance) and 2 ER, though, and finished 1-0 with a 2.35 ERA.

    Ryne Schooley, Iowa Western, LHP
    A redshirt freshman, Schooley's first collegiate season was brief, with only 2 appearances and 4.2 IP. He finished with a 5.79 ERA

    Casey Day, Kirkwood CC, RHP
    Day did not take the bump for Kirkwood, which had a very late start for baseball and only played 12 games.

    These kids all should have 3 yrs to play. The NJCAA gave them all a year of eligibility back as well.

        Not outstanding statistics by the pitching recruits but recent memory tells me that WSU pitching was not stellar in recent years either. Pitch to the plate and pitch to contact seemed to work well for the Shockers this year. Maybe that mentality will work well with the new guys. I will wait for Diggum to tell me why he thanks they are horrible. Go Shocks

          There is so much up in the air with seniors getting a year back, juniors maybe or maybe not being drafted, IF they draft happens or is on time, Juco's coming in with maybe an extra year, incoming freshmen and what to do with current freshmen, sophomores and juniors and whether or not they get a year back.....we at least have a bit of a cushion to work with but can you imagine the ginormous cluster eff that someone with TB's mentality of overrecruiting is looking at ? Arkansas could have 60-70 kids this summer. Missouri a hundred. It's going to be a mess.
