I wonder if Wedge considers this a quasi short-term stint with the purpose of turning things around while mentoring a long term replacement (perhaps one that could benefit from a few years experience assisting to build up some contacts and street cred [*cough* Hooper *cough*])? Or maybe he is willing to settle in for the long haul and build his own amazing legacy at the W.

Guess we will know soon enough.

I had a thought along those same lines. As you said I guess will eventually find out.

5-year deal, so he's with us at least that long. Perhaps he brings in someone like Hooper as his top assistant and just hands over the reigns to him after 5 years.

When you buy season tickets online via Goshockers, you don't get to choose your seats?

Just call them, I did yesterday and got my old seats ready for 2020.

But I am not a baseball guy, so I wouldn't know the good seats from the bad (okay "not as good") until I show up and realize I could have had much better and it's too late. Send me a PM with advice for a noob!

I called too and requested by old seats for 2020 (3169783267 option 5). Keep in mind the stadium will be reconfigured for 2020 and the WSU bench will be on the 3rd base side.

In his 60s. I’d expect Wedge to go younger.

I'm certainly not an expert on baseball but this appears to be a good move by our University and our ADDB. It's always good to bring in someone with Wichita roots (see John Bardo). Good luck Coach Wedge!

        From Sully's RH article:

Wedge is – as every newspaper story, reunion and hall of fame documents – the leader, the guy who barked back at coach Gene Stephenson and the catcher who knew which pitchers to push and which ones to protect. He is the hitter who handled the rain delay against Florida State in the College World Series and the one who told Stephenson they would win the 1989 title.

None of your business. You've been very rude lately!

In other news: "Season Ticket Sales Have Been Brisk! Revenue projections for next year are up $50k per month." (fake news but you get my point if you've been reading my work).

That's rich. YOU calling anyone rude. To be clear, I didn't call you an idiot, I called you a moron. And at some point I will list the variety of items that you were spouting incorrectly. I have no desire to get into a pissing match with anyone on this forum, but there are going to be some truths told eventually, and the real record will be set straight.

            Why so SeRiOuS?

Just get it all off your chest bro. Nobody likes seeing the program we all grew up idolizing run into the ground. We're all on the same team. I'm just not so emotionally attached to a losing coach and nepotistic "director" that I can vent, spew, and ***** without worry of not being invited back to the foursome next Friday. I know what it's like to be "friends with the coach" and it totally distorts your perception of their performance. I much prefer being a fan.

You do you, I'll do me. We all play our part in making this an interesting place to read. There's plenty of room for the bof of us. ;)

I bet he'll be drawing from the pros. Recruits coming to WSU will be trained by coaches who've "been there".

It's a great day to be a Shocker.

Not so great day for the AAC clubs who thought we'd be their ***** again next year.

I bet Mike Kennedy is happy. Baseball is so important to him and he's sounded so sad to me at times.

Never had baseball season tickets in the past, but was a very frequent attendant. Part of the reason was that I was a youth and didn’t really have piggy bank slack to drop down anything. Me and my dad were always Valley Tournament and NCAA regional all-sessioners.

                  It’s a possibility.

Eric Wedge baseball stats, biographical data, history, trivia, and research by Baseball Almanac.

"Well, simply put, Wedge is a man. He doesn’t just talk the talk. He walks the walk, even when it required him to swallow some job security and walk the walk right on out of here. The Mariners hired Wedge because they wanted a strong man who could take their out-of-control team from 2010 and meld it into something better. They wanted a man who could lead other men... 'For me, it’s about being a man on and off the field,' he said. 'And about the way you carry yourself with your family in the community and what you mean to the game when you’re on the field.' Not all managers can manage the way Wedge does, with the patience of a teacher and the swagger of an old Western sheriff."
A 6'3" "old Western sheriff". He'll see "eye-to-eye" with Gregg Marshall.

I can see Wedge and Marshall becoming golfing buddies. They seem to share some attitude. Boatright better have a mighty good pair of big boy pants.

Boatright will be carrying their golf bags. All he's doing right now is shuckin' and jivin' (look it up).

How would you like to be working in between those Alpha bookends on a daily basis? God it would be great!
