Barnhouse is done after 4 1/3. Must be a pitch count thing as he was only at about 75 pitches. McGinness in with 1 out and runner on 2nd.

Shox add 2 more in the 5th on a Paxton Wallace double, Alex Jackson single and advance to second on the throw home, then a bloop single from Sigrist to take a 6-3 lead after 5.
lead off batter in the 6th for UCF hits the scoreboard in left field for their 3rd homer of the game. Clayton gets the next 3 and we go to bottom 6 up 6-4.
I most likely will not be making it through this entire game. This pace is ridiculously bad

Headed to the 8th at 6-4. Clayton out again trying to bridge to Walters against the middle of the UCF order.“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'”

After several minutes of delay for an unnecessary challenge of a foul tip, Clayton gives up a pop fly ground rule double that landed on the chalk in right. Walters is in now with one out.Last edited by Wuzee; April 20, 2019, 02:41 PM.“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. The middle of the UCF order inlcudes a clean-up hitter who is 4-41 (.098) on the season thanks to the antics of the UCF starting 1st baseman in the 1st inning. In fact, according to the play-by-play on the live stats. Castellano came up in the bottom of the 5th with the bases loaded after Jordan Boyer's diving stop of a grounder ticketed for left field saved a run. He struck out.

Walters strikes out the next two — but the ball gets away from Cadena. Umpires did everything they could to give UCF runs in the top of the 8th (missed foul tip call, missed check swing call) but the Shox got out of it. Still 6-4 bottom 8.
I have come to the conclusion that baseball umpiring in the AAC is just as bad as the basketball officiating. I never thought I'd miss MVC officiating, but I sure do after watching this terrible crew work

Shocks had bases loaded with 1 out, but Ritter fouls out weakly to the first baseman. 6-4 headed to the 9th.“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. UCF gets the tying run to the plate with 2 outs in the 9th but Walters gets a K to end the game.
Perhaps somewhat of a workmanlike effort. This was the Shocks 1st series win over someone other than Memphis in AAC play. Still hunting for that 1st sweep.
Shocks host Oklahoma on Tuesday than are on the road at Cincinnati next weekend.
Of some slight concern is that Luke Ritter and Jordan Boyer have cooled off a bit at the plate. Luke is 6-28 (.214) in his last 7 games "dropping" his average to .364 and Jordan is 9-35 (.257) over his last 9 games "dropping" his average to 0.368. With arguable the toughest stretch of the schedule coming up over the next 13 games it would be nice to see both these guys break out of these mini-slumps soon.Last edited by 1972Shocker; April 20, 2019, 03:51 PM.

Workmanlike —- but I would say there were some clutch performances in this one. Boyer’s diving stop to hold a guy at third. McGuinness’ innings; which included a couple of inning-ending Ks; Alex Jackson filling in because of injury and getting a crucial RBI on a ringing base hit on a two-strike count; Mitchell Walters dominating.
We may be playing out the string, but they’re fighting.
Also: Beautiful day to be at the park if you are a person who likes to watch baseball.“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. Sigrist Named to American Honor Roll
Wichita State baseball student-athlete Jack Sigrist has been named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll for the week of April 15-21.
Sigrist, a freshman outfielder from Plano, Texas, went 5-for-10 in three games last week for the Shockers. He added two runs, two RBI, a walk and stolen base to help Wichita State earn a series win over UCF.
In game two against the Knights, he went a career-best 3-for-4 with a walk and stolen base. He had a hit in all three games and had two RBI in the series finale.
