Boyer Named to Brooks Wallace Award Watch List

LUBBOCK, Texas – Wichita State University baseball redshirt senior shortstop Jordan Boyer has been named to the first Brooks Wallace Award Watch List of the 2019 season.

The award, sponsored by Mizuno, honors the nation's top shortstop and will be presented this summer by the College Baseball Foundation. It is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977 to 1980. Wallace died of leukemia at the age of 27.

A native of Oklahoma City, Okla., Boyer is hitting .368 with 26 runs, 46 hits, 10 doubles, three triples and homers, 27 RBIs, 11 walks and three stolen bases in 33 games this season. His .368 batting average ranks fifth in the American Athletic Conference entering WSU's weekend series against UCF.

Boyer has started at shortstop in all 33 games he's played in this season.

Jordan stepping it up in his senior year. :good:
